There is a ton of research on both sides of the fence, some men gain better with no breaks while other fair better with an every other day workout. I think it has a lot to do with how quickly you heal from each routine. My advice has always been start with an everyday workout and trim it down if it is too much. Too much would mean being too sore to train or poor eq when needed. A lot of PE is finding your own way, utilizing the research down in the past.
