Just got back from vacation and need to leave again so only have time for a quick update.
The following is my experience and not meant to be a guide…use it as a starting point to research and reach your own conclusions.

Since my last post I have tried a variety of ways to make my frenulum looser so all my foreskin will slide down my shaft more evenly. My foreskin bunches on the top side of my shaft when foreskin is retracted because my frenulum is too tight on the bottom side. Prior to tying I was stretching my frenulum/foreskin using a variety of techniques and that works up to a point. I could only go so far and then the frenulum would not stretch any further.

FRENULUM TYING DOES WORK IF PATIENCE AND GOOD TECHNIQUE IS USED. I am very impatient and like experimenting with stuff, so I tend to get a little sideways crazy:). The results have been good so far...I just want more!

So I started tying and have posted photos in this forum up through my 3rd tie. I did two more after that which were rather deep. My biggest problem was when the ties came out the large wounds took some time to heal and I felt that because I could not keep the wound stretched it wanted to shorten up. Part of this was caused by my impatience…I was making deep ties, with very thin (cuts faster) thread and pulling the tie super tight, which resulted in the ties cutting through in a few days. Then I tried cutting with a scalpel (not recommended:)) with the same results of not being able to keep my frenulum stretched while healing to receive the maximum benefit. Part of my healing problem was I kept the wounds slathered in an anti-bacterial ointment which prevented air circulation and slowed down the healing process.

My biggest “aha” came when I realized that tying is the same as piercing only using thread instead of steel. Somewhere on line I saw a frenulum “piercing” that had the steel barbell removed and it left a perfectly healed tunnel under the frenulum, it looked like a tie could be put on the top piece that was attached and a large gain could be made without a large wound. Looked like what I was trying to achieve with thread. So, I now have a 12g piercing with a simple, straight, steel, barbell frenulum piercing that once its healed I can experiment with putting a tie on my frenulum with the barbell still in. Piercing is nearly the same experience as pushing a large needle through your frenulum. I do like the look and feel of the piercing and plan two more in the near future. I found that if I use piercing aftercare to treat my tie it heals quicker with less scarring. This is a good source of what to do (and what not to do) - Piercing Care | The Piercing Bible. This is a short excerpt from that page that is very interesting – “Avoid cleaning with Betadine®, Hibiciens®, alcohol, hyrdrogen peroxide, Dial® or other harsh soaps, as these can damage cells. Also avoid ointments as they prevent necessary air circulation.” Use the above solutions to prep your tying site and then use sea salt soaks for cleansing aftercare.

I have lots of photos to post once I return that might be helpful/informative/interesting to those that are tying or are about to tie.

im so happy i found this thread. i heard about tying on a yahoo answers thread but i thought it was crazy. i consulted my doctor about it and he didnt think it was as crazy as i thought it was.

what im wondering is, whats so bad about the scalpel? if i decide to have my doctor remove my fren he will be using a scalpel. is it just that theres more blood? more pain? scaring?

has anyone used a hangmans knot with fishing line so they can keep it tight?

So here are some after pictures! The bump you see is much smaller than before. I won't be surprised if it disappears entirely after 3-4 more days.

You can also see the scarring is minimal!

Pic 1: Although I already completed the tying, I am showing you here that I could only retract the foreskin this far before I did it.

So here's the deal. Masturbation is way more pleasurable. I get a lot more deep sensation now that I can pull it down just a little more. I'm not sure if all guys will experience that, but now I really feel much more sensitive from rubbing the shaft up and down. I'll have to get used to this a little bit... it's easier for me to cum than before.

But also, as you see, I did not tie off enough frenulum to be able to smooth out all of my skin down my shaft. So now I need to decide if I'm going to go for it again and try to make it so that I can pull it back even more or if I'm happy with how it is now. My main goal was to put an end to painful sex, but now that I see how much I enjoy having a freer foreskin, I might enjoy it even more if I make it so that the frenulum has very little or no pull on the foreskin at all. I might go for it at after the bump left from the frenulum band settles down and I've had a chance to "test run" my anatomy some more. But I'd probably have to tie off a couple veins in the process, so I don't know. :)

what makes using a scalpel not recomended? was there just more blood? more recovery time? im getting ready to do my first tie. im going to use piercing forceps to locate where i want to go in at. but looking at the different types of forceps makes me think that if i numb the area, lock on and then cut as deep as the tie would be i should be fine. what am i missing here?

also, if anyone has input on where i should place my first tie heres a pic of where im thinking of going in

can you be more specific about why not the scalpel? im thinking of using one with a larger piercing forcep to clamp the area.

also im contemplating my first tie and im not sure where to go in at. im lookin at 4 spots labeled in the pictures. any help appreciated

ehjun - glad you find the forum useful. I cautioned about a scalpel for several reasons, 1- the most important reason is once you make that cut there is no going back, if you cut too deep or slice a vein you can have a mess. When you tie, if things don't look right you can cut the tie without any major damage. 2 - you are creating a very fresh open wound in an area that can be difficult to heal and there will be scar tissue build up that may or may not go away. 3 - if your doctor does a frenuloplasty he will carefully suture up the wound to prevent scarring, keep the skin in the proper place, and encourage proper healing (a little google work will turn up videos of the whole procedure).
Tying is a slower, gentler, process that with patience allows a large portion of the cut to heal before the final cut, therefore a lot less traumatic procedure. I like the idea that it is up to the individual to decide how far to go and you can stop when you feel like you have achieved your goal.
I am not an advocate of anyoune having their frenulum removed. I am definitely an advocate of anyone wishing to modify their bodies in a way that brings them greater pleasure sexually or aesthetically.
Err on the side of caution!!! Experiment in tiny steps and see how it works out (and let the rest of us know).

ehjun - looking at the photos, your frenulum looks like a candidate for a simple tie. If you put a tie at the #2 spot (on the last photo), use some of the suggested techniques that posters have made, have patience, and after a couple of weeks I think the difference would amaze you.
I use a felt tip pen to carefully mark both sides of where I want the tie to go. A piercing forceps makes the process much easier, especially if you are working alone. Sharp needle, strong thread, everything sterile, take your time and do it right. A surgeons knot works, or any knot that doesn't slip. My experience was I always had to do another thread through the same hole to make a tighter knot as the first thread cut through. If you put in another thread, does so by tugging up on the first thread and sliding a needle and thread through the existing hole under the first thread.
I am excited for you to do this!!! "Your frenulum has "tie me" written all over it!"

This will be kind of a long post and my last for a while. I am kind of going in an experimental direction in loosening my frenulum as much as possible and not sure if it fits within this forum of “tying”. My thinking is that a piercing will give the hole a chance to heal underneath, leaving the band of skin on top of the metal to put a tie on. Let me know if you want updates.

I am skipping a bunch of photos and steps to keep this post from becoming a bookrofl Photos are numbered and dated. I did the piercings myself, with a little help from friends.

My last photo post was of my 3rd tie. In this post, photo p01 - the 3rd tie is out (not healed) and tie 4 is in. Photo p02 - tie 4 is out and I decided that a little scalpel work would be a good idea (not!), quite an ugly wound, I stopped the blood with a coagulation powder. Photo p03 - everything is healing fairly well although there is hard scar tissue where I cut with the scalpel. Photo p04 - since it was healed nicely time to torture the little guy with a piercing, the piercing looks deeper than it really is, although it is totally under the frenulum structure, the light blue line is where I hope to someday (when everything is healed around and under the piercing) put a tie, it seems that this would really loosen the whole frenulum without the big wounds I was experiencing with tying (a note: had I been more patient with tying the wounds would have been smaller I think). Photo p05 – 2nd piercing, both barbells are 12 gauge, this is a month after my last tie cut through and everything has healed nicely, the hard scar tissue from the scalpel cutting is almost gone (thank goodness!). Photo p06 – I have stretched the piercings to larger jewelry 8 gauge, the larger jewelry is stretching the frenulum also, the yellow lines is where I plan on placing 2 more piercings, after that I will let everything heal for a few months and then try tying on top of the jewelry.

In conclusion – if this piercing/tying idea works my frenulum should be totally unrestricted. My initial tying certainly gained some looseness, I want more and I like the experimentationrofl. I must confess, I really enjoy the piercing process and the way the jewelry looks and feels…that said, I think I will be ready to remove them in a few months. Let me know what you think and if you have any
questions.

ooops correction - the last photo is p06 not p02

My knot went through a few minutes ago! Took five days. There was some blood, not much.
I will probably need a 2nd knot.

Will post photos in a few days
So, ehm... I promised an update with photos a few days after my knot went through and, eventually, days become months... (knot went through at may 8th)
Here's the update:

The ones to the left are, obviously, before the knot went through and the other three to the right were taken just a few days ago! Kinda regret that I didn't take any photos before I put the knot in but whatever, you can see that the skin is much more higher up and rolled up on the before photos due to the damn thight frenulum..
The wound has healed very well! It's like there never was a wound to begin with. And what a relief to have that skin removed, could never have pulled the skin that far back before, it'd just hurt.
However, I think there still is more to remove because I can feel the frenulum when pulled back, not as much though!

Don't know where to put the 2nd knot... suggestions? At the same spot or lower down? I dont know at all to be honest.

(and to you guys out there thinking of doing this but still hasnt done it, just do it! Totally worth it! Just read through the whole thread carefully!)

mannenmedkuken - looking good! Nicely healed and it looks like you gained quite a bit of slack. I would suggest another tie a little further down. When you pull up on the skin below the glans you will see a kind of a triangle where the next tie should be. Congratulations on a tie very well done! And I wholeheartedly agree with your last statement...for those who are reading this forum and wondering...just do it. Lots of good advice and photos/examples in this forum...and ask questions, thats what this sharing is all about.

Hi all,
I also want to remove my frenum by tying it.
I'm uncut with rather short foreskin, my frenum is not tight at all, but I want to get rid of it.
I don't know how high and deep punch the skin around the frenulum.
Could someone please describe in more detail where is the best spot to do the first tying and/or post some photos of the procedure (before/after).
What do you think of using dental floss or a thin steel wire?
Thanks,
pigsty

Not quite sure what you mean by "removing your frenum", maybe some photos of what you are trying to do would help. The only advice I would give at this point would be to not use wire for tying. If something went wrong (excessive pain, bleeding, or wrong placement) it would be difficult to remove, threads can easily be snipped off. Start at the beginning of this forum and at least read some of the posts and look at some of the great photo examples for a starting point. Post some photos and keep us informed of what you are doing.

i wanted to post a little update.

i used numb master, 4lb fishing test, and 18g piercing needles.

first tie i thought was pretty deep but ended up not being deep enough. so im on my second. i got the position perfect the second time since i had an extra set of hands to help me this time. first tie i used surgeons knot and square stacked on top. it would hurt every few hours for the first few days. i left it for 4 days before taking it out. when i did i finished it off with nail clippers. second/current tie i used a hang-mans knot so i can tighten it every other day. i put it in super deep so i expect it will take 2 weeks to finish. im on day 7 now. i dont have before second pictures but here are a few before and afters from before i started/the day i tied to today.

ehjun -
Congratulations!!! It looks like you did a great job and I'm sure you can feel a difference. I love the feeling of empowerment that tying gives me, modifying my body in a way that enhances or improves my life experiences. It's success stories such as your that encourages other people that read this forum to gather the courage to make that first tie. Thank you for sharing your story and photos! I look forward to seeing the results of your second tie...should be awesome!!!

any updates from those who have gone through with this on potential gains? I don't have a tight frenulum by any means, in fact I have excess foreskin. but i'm interested in the potential for gains from this just by reducing any constriction on the head. could lead to length gains or head girth gains ...

Read through the whole thread about 3 times. Definitely going to do this I just need some advice about where the best location for the 1st tie would be. I would add photos but im not sure how? Any help would be appreciated. Also if possible could somebody add me to the Flickr group?

Excellent work, the best I have seen yet! Clean and the pull is completely gone...great work.

welcome! Glad you took the time to read through this forum, some good info has been posted. You really need to post some photos so members of this forum can direct you in where to place a tie. Take some photos, upload to your computer to a place easy to find (I recommend your desktop), use the "reply to thread" message box at the bottom of this page, type your message and then hit the "insert picture" icon, "choose file" from your file locations, hit "upload files", you can use the "go advanced" option to see what your post will actually look like, go back to your message to make changes and back to the advanced view to see what your changes look like.
Post #592 is a good example of helpful photos. You do not need to edit the photos (although that is helpful), just something that shows your frenulum pulled away from your shaft and then the guys who have tied can give you some advice.
Not much going on in the Flickr group. You need to post a email/or Flickr account name to be invited. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more help on posting photos and I can give you more detailed instructions. I hope you follow through with tying, it works and makes a big difference.
