How long will it last? Do you have to buy a new one every 3,4,6 months?

has not been used for too long, but..

1. u will be able to use the tubing for a long time, when it gets too dirty u have to clean it with steeel wool (I clean it once or twice a week, but not sure how clean it has to be to work) but it takes seconds to clean and will be as good as new. of course after a while the tubing will wear away until your left with nothing, but I imagine that won't happen for a long time.
2. latex tubing can be different, best to get an extra foot incase u need to cut off some fresh pieces of tubing for the ROP, cause it will get stretched and come off easier after a while, but as long as your not constantly taking the tubing off (u can clean it with the tubing on) it'll last, I'm going to say a month, rough estimate, maybhe less maybe more

I really haven't gotten all this stuff down yet, but all I can say is Supply and Demand. If they're willing to pay it, fine. If not, then make it yourself and save your cash.

Got my zinc from Mcmaster today. The zinc was $10.54 counting $4.00 shipping and it yields two 3" zinc bars for 2 ROPs. I tried bending the zinc a little so it would lay better against the skin and be more comfortable. This works nicely with the copper but the zinc is brittle and starts to crack. I am quite happy with my two new ROPs. I figure with all the costs of materials and shipping, they cost me about $7.50 each and I still have copper and latex tubing for more. The cost per ROP could be quite a bit less by ordering multiple zinc since the shipping would not be much, if any, more (the box was almost empty and very light).

EAsy to make, check on how to do it and make your own. Copper tubing, zinc bar and surgical tubing. Have to make the tubing and the bars long enough to have some contact with your skin and long enough they won't slip out of the surgical tubing. Check around and ask where to get the zinc. That is the difficult part, but should not be a problem. GS

I have to agree with riles77a, At $50US it's a rip off. I build them and sell them for around $25.00 and I still make 500% profit. I am afraid to say that you are laughing all the way to the bank Supra. By the way my price also includes shipping. The material is very cheap, the zinc is around $6.00 per foot, the more I buy the cheaper it gets. I buy 6 ft of Zinc for $25, the copper is around $3.00 for 6 feet, and the latex cost me $1.45 for 6 feet. So for a total cost $29.45, I can make 24 ROP. each one cost me 29.45/24 =
$ 1.22 each. I sell them for $25-1.22 = $24.87 profit. I am sure that you buy your material much cheaper than I can. If any one wants to know how to make a ROP let me know and I will be glad to explain the procedure.

If U drill a 1/4" hole through the centre of the Zinc rod, then heat up the suface with a propain torch, you will be able to make a curved rod by bending the rod. I found that if U place a thin bladed screw driver into the hole, U can place a bend in the rod. It fits the around the crutch much better then.
