You have to ask yourself, is temporary gain considered as a few days or long term set up for permanent gains? Temporary gains, like pumping to get a larger girth from a few hours to a day, or injection to extend the temporary gain to a few days that can stretch to a few weeks. But if that's all you're chasing after, then yes, it's a psychological programming to enjoy the existing way of life.
But if you're performing routines on a daily basis to set up temporary gains, but ensure the constant stressors to push the body to rebuild, repair, and redevelop over time, the temporary gains are how heading to a directional change to permanent gains. This is no longer just a positive psychological effect, but it's also a positive physiological effect.
To one person, even though a small gain may be temporary, but the value of a gain is worth more than a defined monetary number or judgmentary constraint. The positive psychological value may even be worth more than their own summation of their past life perspectives because of the highlight in change. To the rest of us, that small gain is too small to care about or worth noting. To the one who sees its value, that can't be measured lightly by the rest of us.
So, we all come together to offer opinions, but at the end of the day, we will agree that it's worth something positive that cannot be measured.
