Lately I've been seeing alot of questions and getting private messages similar to this: "How many inches can I gain in X amount of time if I do X routine?"

I'm sure DLD hears it every day too, so I just wanted to share my thoughts on it. First of all, it's too difficult to answer that question because everyone is different and everyone does their exercises differently. A bodybuilder would never ask "how big will my arm get if I pump X iron?" because the answers would vary too much from person to person. The question usually leans towards sounding lazy too. It's often like this: "I don't have much time, so if I skip some stuff and just do X exercise, will I still gain X amount?" Well of course not; we have to put in the hard work and not trick ourselves into thinking we can get huge in a couple days. It's playing mind games with yourself and it can hurt your gains. The mental side of PE is arguably the most important. I think a strong daily routine that's kept for a long time is a great way to keep your mind focused and...

The most important thing I tell people is PUT AWAY THE RULER!
Setting a goal is a good thing, but that's not the same as setting yourself up for disappointment.

Measure yourself only after you've kept a good routine for a few months.
You can't see the tiny incremental changes from day to day, and that can mess with your head and motivation. You're working hard and you're not a damn millimeter bigger than you were last week, wtf? ARGH! I don't know about you, but I get motivated when I know I'm gaining and I'm proud that I'm sticking to my routine. Seeing no change in size can be depressing and knock me off my routine. Especially when you're first starting and you're still questioning if PE is real.

But you can see the changes over a long period of time.
A good example is how we age.
We won't really notice ourselves getting older from day to day. You don't wake up one day and say "ok well I'm old now". It happens very gradually. But sure enough one day you'll be wrinkled and there won't be a specific day you can look back upon and say "that day I gained a wrinkle".

It's the same with PE. It won't be like "that day I gained a millimeter". It'll happen over time and then you'll look back and be like "holy shit I'm an inch bigger than I was last year". :cool:

The ruler is not your friend during your routine. Put it away and Hakuna Matata. No more worries.
Stick to your routine, don't worry about how much you're going to gain, and just keep plugging along!
Then the ruler will be your best friend after you've done a hardcore routine for 3 months and you finally bust it out and see, without a doubt, a GAIN.

i just hid my ruler lol ima measure in three months XD maybe 1 in a half haha but girth eevry month cuz i think im a quick gainer in girth once i get lm i think streching will be less exhaustinhg mentally and physically but anyways if it takes me 2 years to get 2 inches idc as long as i get my goal thats all that matters

Yea that's why he's in the hall of fame and runs this business. Not everyone is the same anyway. 99% of the guys that have come and gone on here over the years never even got close to gaining an inch let alone 2. The ones the stay around and stick with it are the ones who have gained.

Let's be realistic and not scare off the noobs because they haven't grown after 3 months. A big reason why alot of men are still skeptical of PE is because of the stupid ads for the "Gain 3 inches in 30 Days" shit. And setting everyone's goals way too high is what I think is "ghey". This stuff takes a long time.

I'm really happy and proud for the guys who can gain really fast though!

ok i wanna ask you a question have you done pe everyday of the 7 years ? cuz im willing to do it everyday i want my goal very bad and do you belive you couldve got the 2 inches in half the time if you did pe longer/more commitment etc

Excellent post, very well written. I've had my ruler away for a good amount of time. Hakuna matata indeed.
And yes, we do not grow the same rate, even if two people do the same program with same intensivity. Nothing "ghey" about it, for some people change might take a bit more time. And for some less, as mentioned.

Setting a goal can be a good thing and usually is. But stressing about it, measuring often is many times counter-productive. A consistent program is the key to gains, but as so often said, in this post as well, time that it takes to reach some gains differs greatly.

No I definitely took alot of breaks, sometimes even for 6 months. But that's what happens, life gets in the way.
And yes I think I would be bigger if I didn't take those breaks! No doubt
 
Excellent advice. I only suggest that men measure officially every 3 months or so this way you have time to make the temporary results become permanent. Measuring too early will always cause discouragement. I too was addicted to measuring and I found a good solution that allows me to feed the obsession without becoming discouraged. I will measure two places, erect girth I measure after every session to check for temporary gains. It is important to know that expansion is happening with each workout so this, although not official, gives me a loose understanding if the girth workout is solid. Remember, these are not permanent gains only temporary expansion, which is the oral to new gains. The other place I measure once per week is flaccid stretched, bone-pressed as length gains will manifest themselves here first so this gives the user a good idea if his length routine is productive. Again, these are not permanent gains, they are temporary and this checking is only to see the validity of the workout. Official measurements are taken after 3 months, with 24 hours of rest before the measurement to ensure good erection quality. Here is where I make the erect, bone-pressed measurement and the official erect girth measurement. If you measure this way it will never disappoint, it will only encourage you to push on.
 
ive been in a similar situation - getting so obsessed with the measurements that it would distract me from workouts, and when i didnt make quick gains i just got discouraged and didnt remain consistent. this all lead to pretty much no gains. ive pretty much kicked this habit, now i measure every month for an official gain measurement. i also sometimes measure after/ during girth work if i feel ive gotten particularly good expansion as again its a good indicator of the effectiveness of a program/ exercise. i will also measure if ive taken a few days off, to see how much has been cemented. for me this is a good balance of measuring between wanting to know what size you are, and judging the effectiveness of what youre doing
 
Alot of people don't get temporary gains, especially with stretching, so that can lead to discouragement too. Just a thought.

yeah i dont really get much from temp length. i get alot of temp girth rhough, both of these things have their ups and downs

For those who don't see temporary gains I guess my method would not be applicable but to those who do, it can be a good map to if excises or routine is working.

yeah i feel this is true, mainly for girth. measuring my expansion seems to be a direct correlation with if im going to gain

To be safe. Find some type of timed safe lock thingy and put your ruler/measuring stuff in there.

I very rarely measure now - haven't taken an "officlal" full battery measuring in several months. I did a quick measure of my girth a few months ago and was right at 6.5". Solid, but nit where I want to be ... still trying to pack on that additional .5" I'm looking for. My next measurement wont be until 12:31. A good way to close out the year and set a base for next year's push.

There's no rush ...

That is where I find it to be most important, I like to see expansion after every workout and if I am not I know that I need to up the intensity or change the exercises.
