I can believe that AR upregulation just might be possible as a stress response in penile tissues, though I'd never considered it quite that way before.

What makes me doubt pumping as a source of hairloss though, is that if the penis were a major site for the creation of DHT, then would it not also be caused simply by having an erection? That would happen for several hours every night while sleeping.

Also, how long is that DHT going to be around in the system? Adaptation in the AR appears to occur in only hours. If hair follicles are susceptible to inflamation downstream of DHT production (TGF, Caspase), then that would be the case in normal DHT levels too. There hasn't been a suggestion that a critical mass is required to cause fallout, only rate. I think other factors would be much more visible, such as seasonal triggers on telegen/anagen phase in the spring and fall, nutrition, free-radicals, lymph drainage, and blood pressure to name just a few. Pumping would be way down on my list of suspects.

Very true. Just a hypothetical on my part. Pumping would be #100 or so on my list of causes. Some say that constant orgasms lead to acne and baldness. I'm too young to know or to care.

I don't understand your point. An upregulation in AR would mean more T or DHT binding onto the penis cell surface. So infact that might slightly reduce blood levels of T or DHT as more is bound. But what does AR on the penis have to do with %DHT reaching the follicles. Unless ofcourse stress catalising hypertrophic conditions lead to AR expression at the site of the penis as well as all over the body. Hair follicle might have AR. I have no clue if AR at follicles have any feedback relation to AR in penis or anywhere else.
However I suspect 5 alpha reductase + pressure could be the catalyst for T - > DHT. Have you guys come across any study where pressure catalyzed DHT conversion? The other possibility is that the %5 AR increases due to pressure/mechanical stress, possibly as a feedback hypertrophic reaction. Any papers on this? I'll try to make time for researching on this....
I used to notice my penis head as well as a little onto the shaft, used to get puffed and purple after pumping. It would get kinda unusable/numb for some time afterwards. This never happens with manual Penis Enlargement

Possibly, but the volume of the penis in relation to the rest fo the body is one tall ratio. What I was reading into the posts was that the penis has a high concentration of 5AR and therefore a disproportionate ability to convert T>DHT compared to the rest of the body (more than it's ability to bind up DHT).

I have never found out whether AR expression is local or systemic (I suspect systemic though). It was was one of the key things I tried to find evidence of when we were discussing local topical agents. What causes up/down regulation of AR though? Does it happen all on it's own, or is there a carrier signal/chemical? We know that hormone affects AR sensitivity, but there might be another mechanism at work. Just like DHT itself does not cause hairloss (though 99% of publications neglect to mention this). It is a cascade of events that can be started by DHT. This is why non DHT derivatives AAS can also cause hairloss - they just start further down the chain of events.

Sounds like a combination of Edema and lack of oxygen to me.

I think we have huge holes in the picture we are trying to establish here. I think there are more variables to this that we have not yet cottoned on to. I've always pictured it as 1. The need to grow (adaptation), 2. the ability to grow (hormones), 3. The builing blocks to grow (nutrients). These alone however have not proven consistantly successful for me so far, so I am misunderstanding or neglecting something.

When people say thiers no Science and their is a Science....well their aint a Core Science to this what we do......in other words it aint really been messed with before....Urologists and the like deny it exists's.

We [Some] know shit loadz about the Penile anatomy/Biology etc etc but all this like Waxn said aint the Science of this stuff.....its all ideas and theorys....which is great I have no probz with it at all.

I aint as blunt on this as Waxn....I think most peeps in these forums have more ideas on this stuff than the Urologists put together.
But bare in mind we are treading on NU territory that ain't been explored before, hence this isn't recognised as a TRUE Science.....I just thought I'd put this straight as it seems someone tryed to say it but it did not come out right.

Keep up the great discussion guys.
Niceone.

"Infrared heat increases the extensibility of collagen tissues. Tissues heated to 45C (112F) and then stretched exhibit a nonelastic residual elongation of about 0.5 to 0.9 percent that persists after the stretch is removed. This does not occur in these same tissues when stretched at normal tissue temperature. Thus 20 stretching sessions can produce a 10 – 18% increase in length in tissues heated and stretched."

This in combination with the exercises has to be a good thing?

Interesting idea Shiver. I have been manual Penis Enlargementing ofr about 3-4 months. I used to use hot wrap quite often in the course of a Penis Enlargement session to maintain the heat. Intuitively I felt better response when the member is heated. The problem with hot wrap is the temperature of the dick drops immediately after the hot wrap is removed.

I found a great solution to the problem when I was in Walmart the other day. I found a 250 W infrared heating lamp (in the electric bulbs section). The idea is to stretch or jelq under this lamp so that the temp. is maintained. Started it out just recently. Well, actually speaking the so called GE infrared electric lamp looks very much a 250 W electric bulb. The sideeffect could be tanning of the dick. Also take care not to focus directly on the unit, it might burn the skin out!

Maybe it's a good idea to check the effects of radiation on tissue. Like I know UV radiation can trigger skin cancer but I think infrared is relatively safe right...(this lamp seems more of a regular bulb which emits visible and infrared radiation). Anyone tried it or wanna experiment? Lemme know how it comes...

Ok,
preliminary research seems to indicate that IR radiation Penis Enlargement is safe and *might* infact spurt hyperplasia/hypertrophy. A study indicates that near infra red wound healing therapy is now FDA approved and is used by NASA for healing wounds in space. Now, what has wound healing gotta do with Penis Enlargement? Well I'm no expert in biology but from the paper it seems the *near infrared* radiation is sufficient to penetrate fairly deep and targets the mitochondria, stimulating/energising the cells. This leads to greater cell activity, growth factor synthesis, collagen production and angiogenesis!!! Now I'd say tha'ts hypertrophy or is it hyperplasia? The wavelengths used - 680 to 880 nm.

Now the GE lamp would be in the near IR range I guess because it emits light like a regular bulb. Wonder it it'll work guys!!!

Penis Enlargement
"The science behind it"

We have poured over recent journals and reports and we have learned that recent studies conducted by scientist D.J. Millward have shown that muscle cells (including the ‘corpora cells’ within the penis) are surrounded by thin sheaths of connective tissue: the endoysium, perimysium, and epimysium.

These layers can be pictured as exceptionally tough layers of plastic wrap snugly surrounding each cell (and groups of cells). In order for each cell to enlarge, the tough, fibrous connective tissue surrounding the cell must be stretched to a larger diameter. Think of these layers as ‘girdles’ that restrict cell expansion.

The human body responds; grows, develops, and adapts; to physical stimulation and exercise. The tendons, ligaments, muscle fibers, and cellular tissue stretch and heal to adapt to new stressors on them (Berne, Levy, Koeppen, & Stanton, 1998). This is the innate physiology of the human body, to grow and adapt to change, and all tissue in the body responds to the various stressors exerted on it.

Penis enlargement programs rely upon this innate ability of muscle fibers to stretch and grow to accommodate exercise, along with the tendons and ligaments. However, the penis is not made up of muscle tissue, but it is affected by the ligaments attaching it to the pubic bone. In addition, the erectile tissue, corpora cavernosa, is a spongy tissue containing distensible blood spaces, which increases in size when blood is pumped into it (Martini, 1998).

The corpora cavernosa in the male penis is similar in construction to the pore cells in marine life called sponges. Repeatedly stretching the pore cells in a live sponge will cause it's absorption pores to expand and heal in this expanded state to adapt to the minute tearing of the cellular walls of the pores, thereby making the pore cells larger and more capable of absorbing more water and nutrients.

The corpora cavernosa is a live tissue which responds similarly in the manner of a sponge (Martini, 1998); therefore, continuous stretching and healing should cause the distensible blood spaces to increase their ability to absorb more blood, as a sponge does with water, and thereby increase actual size of the erectile tissue.

For a bodybuilder, the blood rushing into the muscle during resistance weight training (also known as "the pump") stretches the layers, forcing them to rebuild in slightly larger and larger shapes. Now, to increase the size of your penis, you must somehow stretch the connective layers that surround your erectile tissue.

The external exercises men perform with natural penis enlargement programs stimulate the connective layers of the penis to achieve, after repeated sessions, permanent increase in size and strength. These exercises do not cause new cells to appear – simply, pre-existing cells are forced to increase in size a small amount each time the exercises are performed. During the rest period between the exercises day, your body will rebuild itself a little bigger and stronger and with time and persistence you will begin to see measurable results.

To understand the basics behind penis enlargement, one must understand the basic structural anatomy of the penis, how erection occurs, and the mechanics of how penile tissue can be strengthened and enlarged.

I'd love to bump this even though I know this dude is likely not to come back.

Never said he wasn't wise, only that he hates me. Bump his work as his work is good, I do not hold grudges.
