Quick question, what are the round plates with holes in them for?

Those are the wrenches which slide into the slots on each bar. Slide into place and tighten. Simple,.

Thank you so much for the pics and instructions for this mod. My strap broke today so I ran down to the local hardware store for the velcro.

It works great. A lot more comfortable to me than the strap was.

Fucking BRILLIANT. This thing works awesome. I need to do some trimming as I put the material too close to the holes, but this is awesome. Now I need wrap to protect my head and we're in good shape.

Hi, first time poster here. Whatever I use to wrap with gets pulled through the slit with the velcro and stops the velcro gripping tight enough. Any solutions?

I've tried theraband, [words=http://www.mattersofsize.com/forum/showthread.php?44-Ace-Strapped-Jims-Joint]ACE bandage[/words] and a piece of cloth. When I pull the velcro through and its starting to get tight the wrapping gets bunched up at the slit and I can't pull any tighter.

Found the perfect double sided velcro to use for this. both sides are far softer than the other velcro I was using, and it's better than taping or gluing 2 single sided pieces together:
