well, I didn't have time to sit here and read through all of the replies to this topic...I'll do that a bit later...so forgive me if I mention something that someone else already has.

I am 19 years old (turned 19 in July of 2005) and I got my circ done in October. It's something I have always wanted done...and the only reason I didn't have it done when I was a child was because my mother didn't think it was necessary...I just found it odd because every male in my family has been circumsized...and yet I was not...but whatever!

I had the surgery (it was elective since I had no medical problems that forced me to have the procedure done) in the morning..the surgery took about 30 or 40 minutes...I had general anesthetic...so I was completely out...I woke up in the recovery room...sat in the bed for about 5 minutes waiting to fully wake up...had some water...the nurse wheeled my bed to the bathroom so I could get dressed, and I put my pants on, my shirt, laced my boots (22 eyelets, mind you!) and I didn't feel a thing...no discomfort at all.

I had a pain killer perscription filled and only took 1 pill during my entire recovery period of about a month. There was never any pain whatsoever...I only took the one pill on the first day I was actually going to be up walking around for long distances...just as a precaution...but I didn't even need it. The only thing that caused little discomfort were the middle of the night erections which kind of pulled at the stitches and woke me up...but it didn't "hurt"...

So, basically, it all boils down to your pain tolerence...but I do not regret having it done at all...you DON'T lose all of the feeling...hell, it's been 5 months since my op and my glans is still sensitive! So, if you really want to go for it...do it! You wont regret it. I got it done because I wanted it...not for any other reason.

If there's still anything you want to know...just drop me a line and I'll answer your questions. Take care.

What would be the advantages you get from being circumcised vs being uncut? (Except the satisfaction it has been made.)

Well, I don't know, really...I don't look at it in terms of advantages vs. disadvantages. I just got it done because I had always wanted it done...it's weird growing up uncut when the norm is guys who are cut.

Most people look at it like this: They think that girls prefer "cut" guys (speaking in terms of women in the states...as I know it's still fairly common to be uncut in most european countries) Most people...including doctors agree that it is easy to take care of, in terms of how clean it is...as you know, if you are uncut, you have to retract your foreskin and clean it very well in the shower (I personally never found this to be a problem, though...staying clean was always easy) Some people argue that it is easy to catch and transmit STD's with the foreskin intact...although there is no proof of this...Some people also believe that having the foreskin intact can make it easy to suffer from penile cancer...people believe that smegma is linked to causing penile cancer...and, of course, smegma is no longer produced when the foreskin is removed...

there are all sorts of things that can be looked at as advantages and disadvanatges...depedning on how you look at them. I just think being cut looks better...but it really just comes down to personal preference...I have not suffered any problems since having my circ...it was probably the best decision I ever made! :O)

Well thanks for those points man I wanted that kind of feedback from a guy who has been uncut before.

great :)

no problem...I'm always up for offering my 2 cents when it comes to a discussion such as this. I did a lot of research on every topic possible before I went under the knife...so I learned quite a bit in the month leading up to my surgery :)

No offense, friend, but I thought I was fine for the first 30 or so years of my life. The numbing is cumulative. Get back to us in 10 or 20 years.

It no longer accumulates. You still shed skin cells, and to an extent your skin still exudes the same emolients, they just rub off on your clothes and bedding.

You have to pardon my fascination with this. Let's completely ignore the state of your glans and remaining skin for now. So you're saying that the part that has been removed gave you no pleasure at all?

You do realize that most intact guys would say that their frenulum must be the closest thing to a woman's clitoris that a man can know. You might know that Taylor et al have shown conclusively that over 50% of the nerve endings of the penis are in the part of the skin tube and frenulum that are removed in the typical circumcision. You most certainly formerly experienced the sensation of your skin rolling and unrolling (with manual stimulation) at the extreme point of the skin tube where the unique J-receptors reside (of which you would now have none). You don't miss the way a partner used to plunge his/her tongue between your skin tube and glans and swirl around, tickling two surfaces at once?

Like 80% of the world's men you had a perfectly normal penis, no hygiene difficulties, healthy as can be; and now after this amputation, there's nothing you miss?

It really defies belief. Are you for real? Have you ever been diagnosed with body dismorphic disorder or similar?

Despite the major problems post-operatively with my circumcision I too have no regrets about having the operation. I prefer the look of a circumcised penis and cannot understand the almost-biblical tirades that the pro-foreskin campaigners unleash.
My penis does not look "perfect" but at least the glans is fully exposed and that pleases me.
You do not have to have body dismorphia to have operations.
Some might question the men on this site (who all seem to have admirable dongs) continually "expanding their horizons".
I have heard of silicone injections to the shaft and scrotal sack ?!!

Despite the major problems with my 1990 circumcision I TOO have no regrets about the surgery as I prefer the look of a circumcised penis...
Three operations later and my penis does not look perfect but the glans is now fully exposed and a pleasing mushroom shape.
As regards, body dismorphia some might question the men on this site (who all have very admirable dongs) who go to extraordinary lengths to stretch the truth !

I have to say, I really don't miss my frenulum at all. Sex is no less pleasurable whatsoever, in fact it is better because its less painful.

Despite my fairly radical circumcision my surgeon retained my frenulum saying it was the most sensitive part of the penis .....

There's a big difference between someone getting circumcised to help alleviate a problem, and someone getting circumcised just to be circumcised.

We have both here, and both may be happy with the result. That they did get to choose for themselves, is the main thing to remember. I hope they don't get their kids circ'd just because they are happy.

Yeah better keep it and remove it later, if that's what the kid want. Can't reverse a circumcision though...

Oddly enough, surgeons can reverse circumcisions surgically with skin grafts from the scrotal sack (which tend to be hairy) or with skin grafts from the hips (which are a different colour and texture to the skin of the genitals....
Not so much skin graft as skin patches.
The effect can be a bit Frankenpenis but some people are happy with the results....
Costly at £6,500+.

Ive not read all the replies so i might be repeating something here. Im 24 and i always had a tight foreskin. I couldnt pull it back at all. I could take a piss comfortably, that was painless. I could have sex without experiencing any pain or soreness but it wasnt as pleasurable as i would have liked it to be. I just couldnt get much sensation and using condoms decreased sensation even more. I didnt really want circumscision so i looked into stretching. Now that hurt. I didnt use any steroid ointment or anything and i think that stretching with or without steroids only really works if you can pull your foreskin back partway, but if your foreskin is really tight as mine was, then i think an operation is best. Maybe stretching with steroid creams would help if its really tight, but i dont really know.
I then looked into circumcision, i really wanted to keep my foreskin though. I found out about partial circumcision. Here they would only cut the tight part of the skin and leave the rest so you could pull it back. I contacted a urologist and luckily he was all for keeping as much foreskin as possible. I had this procedure done 3 weeks ago. It was done under local anaesthetic, so i was fully awake throughout the operation. They placed a sheet vertically at chest level so i could not see them operating. They injected my dick with the anaesthetic, the injections were painful but nothing that you cant tolerate easily and they were only momentarily. After that they started to operate. I could not feel a thing. I didnt even realise they had started operating!! Prior to the op they said they would cut my frenulum as it would be quite small, seeing as i had never retracted my foreskin
The whole procedure took about 30 minutes. They put me in a room for about 2 hours after the operation to have a nap. I could feel some slight burning sensation but again it was easily tolerated and nothing you need to worry about. After that i went home and didnt experience any pain. I took the dressing off the next day. My dick was swollen and looked really ugly. The swelling went down after 10 days and the stitches dissolved after about 2 weeks. There has been some bleeding which was inconvenient. Also the glans was really sensitive as it had never been exposed, so when it brushed against clothing it was uncomfortable but it was desensitised somewhat after 2 or 3 days and is no problem now. Its another 3 weeks to go before i can have sex and im looking forward to it.

The surgery result is always grossly inferior to restoration with tissue expansion, which is grossly inferior to being intact.

Your glans will be exquisitely sensitive for some time and you will be very swollen too... Have you had your stitches removed yet as even the "soluble ones" tend to stay put.
You can usually manage a gentle ejaculation in a week or 10 days.
Some surgeons prefer general anesthetics however as otherwise erections can be a problem!
