Keeping Up With Rocky

Rocky, This was a fabulous idea and I think you should continue these competitions, they are really benefiting those involved! Excellent work my Brother!

Anyways I heard back from one of our judges, Arkailija. He really stepped up and gave a thorough reply on his thought process, he explained very clearly how came to decide who should win the competition. I don't want to disclose this information yet so I do not influence the other judges.

We are still waiting on longstretch and templ, so BSA put some pressure on your niggles so he doesn't slack off.

I know I don't have too and it's not needed but because I've made a substantial gain I have recorded myself taking a measurement just like I did before the comp. I will add the video to my progress thread for anyone interested as soon as it uploads to my online drive.
I have done this to keep myself accountable for the claims I have made.

I know! I feel like people either werent diligent about nominating or a little shy. Not to worry, if you didnt get it this time you will get it next time. We will keep this comp going.

The most important thing here is the process, I think everyone got something out of this.

Nominated for what , the competition? As far as I'm aware I'm in the competition but I've never been nominated for the routine of the week.

I asked numerous times on previous posts to nominate people to win the monthly competition so we could narrow down the conteders. This way the judges didnt have to go through ten journals to decide upon a winner. You could have nominated yourself.

I try to make this a democracy, but its usually the same 3-4 suspects giving input.

So im not part if the competition because I wasn't nominated to be in it? There wasn't much point in asking people to join if that's how it's going to be done. I've not exactly been active on here of late because of work and family commitments so the fact I've been excluded for not nominating myself to be judged in a competition I'm already apart of is ridiculous .

You do understand theres ten journals going on? And you do realize that the judges give out of their own time to do this task, many already turned down the position because it was too much work even after narrowing down.

You werent excluded, you were considered. You just werent a runner up for the final group. Had you nominated yourself you would probably had made it to that last group. I understand you were busy, I am busy too. Yet I take the time to reply to every journal asking for measurements, come here and ask for people to nominate who wins "this", "that", who the judges should be, Pm possible judges, Pm judges info, do a bit of graphic design for the certificates etc. Sometimes my efforts are taken a little for granted by people who just skim through, and give one sentece replies that are completely off topic. Im not a kid, I have a full time job and pay rent like the rest of us.

So I think you are being a little inconsiderate.

So for a competition that more 10 people signed up for an submitted starting stats have been excluded by vote? Why do judges have to check journals when competitors could post their results in this thread? This comp was set up for gains in 30 days and on reading back on previous posts things changed to the competition being based on journal entries being added each day which I cannot do and I'm sure that would be the same for other people who entered the competition.
Because I can't add to my journal every day I'm automatically excluded as are others in the same situation. I'm completely lost on the whole concept of this competition to be honest and it's feels like favouritism has taken over .

You say your are not a kid and neither am I but I have two of them who I make priority in the evenings . I post on here when ever I can grab a spare minute and some of my responses will be short but I still make an effort. If that makes me inconsiderate then I guess I am.
 
This is a brand-new idea that Rocky has put together, so expect some 'growing pains' with regard to all the nuts and bolts of how the competition is conducted. This being the 1st actual month of judging, I think a little slack can be afforded if it's a tad bumpy. Nominating one person out of the ten participants for the monthly portion of the show seems to add an additional layer that may not be necessary, (if there were over 25 players, then I could see how things could become daunting for our judges) so my thought is that everyone that's 'in' should be automatically 'in' for the monthly. As far as the weekly suggestions, I don't think that needs any tweaking.
Like I said, anytime new-ground is being plowed there will be some hiccups.

The competition started as a motivation, no pictures where required because the emphasis was on the process. Plus we have participants on different levels, it is not fair to compare the gains of someone who is starting out vs someone who already gained 2". Nobody said you are automatically excluded if you don't post everyday. I thought this was clear. What makes you inconsiderate is not the fact that you don't reply or give input. What makes you inconsiderate is that I am putting the time and you shit and criticize my efforts because you didnt have time to nominate yourself. If you don't have the time to fully participate in the descision making process accept the consequences. How has "favoritism"? If theres one thing Ive done is consult you guys on everything. Who do you claim is getting benefited from this favoritism?

And I have a life and I chose to take out of my time to do this. This competition does need to exist, matter of fact if I didnt push it it wouldve fallen into the background and be forgotten quickly like most of them.

@BSA its 10 journals with 30 daily logs atleast. It doesnt need to get to 25 for it to be daunting, if you think otherwise go ahead and find the judges. I couldnt.

Let's take a few steps back and gain some perspective...I appreciate all the efforts you've (Rocky) expended in setting this up and keeping it fresh, (I'm sure it's like herding cats). We are all in this together with the same goals, (getting bigger, healthier, better in a facets) so there's really no need to go from Defcon 1 to Defcon 5 over what seems to be a simple misunderstanding.

I know having put-forth the time and enduring the frustration, then having to field criticism isn't any fun...but I know BB wasn't attacking you and just wasn't completely certain of the protocol...obviously I struggled as well, but after explaining what a PITA it would be to try and review/audit everyone involved, I can see your point.

Lets remember guys the only prize that was promised at the beginning was your own gains. Half way through DLD was generous enough to offer up a LM or Bathmate to the winner, but that is a bonus. The mission of this competition was to keep everyone motivated, and I think the mission was accomplished. We had 10 journals all of which were active, these are things that will be saved in the database and 5-10 years from now some kid will be reading and learning from. So everybody should be proud of that.

I apologize if it was a but bumpy, and the guidelines sort of changed a little bit along the way. But it is expected, this was the first time running this competition. Hopefully next time around things go smoother.

And by the way we are still waiting on templnite and longstretch to hand in their descisions.
 
I have no idea what's going on but lets not behave immature :) [haha]. Rocky I've not seen anyone really nominate judges like templ or shortdick more than people have nominated threak. So what the hey, where's Threak, did he not accept? And why does 1 nomination guarantee a place as a judge.
