You will have to play it by ear. Usually, when if I had hard time finishing the first set at my Max weight, I would go ahead and reduce for the next set. But you may be different.

Just do some experimentation and see what works best for you. It really depends on the range of weight with which you are working. When I was hanging 20-25 lbs, I would usually reduce in 2.5 lb increments. But when I was hanging at a Max of 15, I would only reduce by 1 lb.
