I get a lot of questions about tension levels, and I have noticed many user rush in to higher tension territories. From my own experience,now looking in the review mirror, higher tension is not better. Keeping it at 1200g kept my penis in the "jelly state", and I saw great gains from extender use, most prominent when combined with manual stretches. During each set at 1200g, I remembered I had to adjust the thumbscrews since tension fell on multiple occasions, which of course was great since it meant that my penis eased and stretched during each set. After some time, I increased the tension to to 1500 g, hoping to achieve even faster gains. Instead the reaction from my penis was the opposite. It became less jelly, and more "stiff". This eventually lead to a plateu, and my length gains stopped. During theese sets at 1500g, I almost never had to screw up the thumbscrews. The stiffness in my inner penis did no stretch as before.

I eventually decided to take a 4 month decon break to release my penis from the plateu(since then only maintanance work put in). Anyone else experienced the same? Any input and experience of tension in relation to length gains are much appreciated!!!

(But when it comes to time, I felt more was better. The more hours I put in (at 1200g), the faster the gains.)

I made some very quick initial gains using the SG, (7 -> 7.5) but I guess those newbie gains since I never done anything before. Most of that was fairly low tension, still using the strap that came with it, not the velcro.

Those gains were made over a course of 2 months, and I am still working on my first full inch of gains. Sometimes I get there but not without shitting myself (like putting the ruler on the side, kegeling while measuring and so on...)
After my initial gains I used higher tension, at least at the second mark, (1200g) and I haven't gained as much over time. But I cannot tell if I were overdoing it or I simply maxed out my newbie potential. I think the latter.

What I find interesting is that if I pump with the Bathmate for a few minutes before I get in the SG the stretch is much more comfortable. (It is the other way around for a full session).
1500g feels like 900g, so I am able to have a full hour full tension session I wouldn't be able to do otherwise. I guess it is like anything growing, in life. You can only reach full potential of one parameter (tension) if you supply it with another like a decent warmup.
 
I keep the tension between 1200 and 1500g and I find it OK.
 
I got most of my gains at around 1500g over the course of 10 months, however I remember that at 1200g I added rods faster but it could have been from the fact that I was in the early months and my penis resonded better to the stress, anyway I think that any tension above 1200 will bring gains.

I think everyone is different so some guys will prpbablly respond better at lower tension and this is why I say that the fastest way to gains is the one that you'll find for yourself trough a lot of experimentation.

does the size genetics provide any tension if you do not twist the thumb screws? how much tension am I seeing, if I only see 3 bars left from the base of my penis?

not sure , i read that a guy did 6 months no tension and got no gains

The base screws are really used to extend a small amount while you are waiting to fit in a new bar.
 
Could you point me in the direction of information about this "jelly state"? I have noticed since using my ADS that my dick becomes much more....soft and pliable? I usually start my day stretching at low tension and eventually working up to the max. I just purchased 5lb springs and more elongation bars planning to continue my routine of started off low tension working to max and holding as long as I can
 
That's what is meant I'm sure. Soft/pliable. Where you just get that overall plump look/feel from fatigue. One of the best times to workout.
 
interesting, ive tried using an extender before, and every time ive tried going for absolute max tension and its never really worked. seems as if going just a notch below max is what brings consistent gains

This state can be achieved two ways, first you will feel this when your penis is completely fatigued, too tired to get an erection of full capacity and second, after you have an orgasm you will be in this state immediately. As Serc said, this is the best time to train length as there is little interference from the muscles that support the penis.

The tension is what it is. There is only no tension of you put it on wrong. You compress the springs and put it on and you should be at or near max tension. The notches in the bar tell you what tension level your at. Less notches equals more tension. No notches 1500, right at the second notch is 1200 and right on the 3rd notch it 900. If you have the springs fully uncompressed and all notches show then you don't have tension. Put it on at full tension then as you stretch out and hit the second notch you use the adjusters to get you back to full tension. You then repeat this until your adjusted all the way out at max tension then switch out a longer bar and you'll be back at max tension again
