I try to limit my manual work and to stretch my muscles and hang upside down with teeter boots to stretch out my spine and decompress the discs. Deep tissue massages are also incredibly benifical.

you could be right about manual PE being hard on the back, neck, and shoulders. I just do stretches and go for a few mile walk to fix any soreness. A walk in the morning is good for a stiff back.

I have learned to stretch out before training now, just like I would do in the gym before training. Try that out, it is a huge help for me. I mainly do Yoga positions that concentrate on CORE muscles, nothing serious, maybe 10 minutes.
