I don't know if this will sound stupid or superstitious to you guys but I've always believed that masturbating is an evil act which attracts negativity into ones life. I believe a man who doesn't masturbate is more progressive with his life when compared to a man that masturbate. What are your thoughts on this.

Well masturbation is ok as long as we have self control,Sometimes can help us to release the stress..i have felt that, but yeah can be lame sometimes ......I think progression is a state of mind if a man is motivated n things are working out for him hed have the willpower to continue his journey..

I agree with shortdick here. It has a lot to do about how you think, act, and react in life. Be it positive or negative is your choice. If you be negative you'll attract negative.

Truth. Over masterbation can cause depression as well due to a loss of hormones like serotonin.

Well, thanks so much for the comments but I will like to know if masturbating once a day is over masturbation. I'm a very horny person and I just started using the sg extender. I always have an erection and some times I need to masturbate to enable the erection go away. Is masturbating once a day bad? Or I have to limit it? I have stopped watching for now.

I am assuming you mean evil is meant to be a sinful act and I have questioned this same thing in my own religion (Roman Catholic). As far as the bible is concerned nothing is said about masturbation, let alone it being evil or sinful. I think the issues of religion come into play with a very short verse said in the new testament. in Matthew 5:28 "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." and this is meant in the respect of coveting. So from here we need to establish what lust means and how it pertains to masturbation. If one masturbates using material this would fall into a lustful nature. But now we need to establish what is. Since there was no phonographic material around when the Bible was created we need to make some suppositions. In my mind is the depiction of sexual acts of intercourse and anal sex. I also relate Lust to the act of looking upon someone without their knowledge. So, for me, seeing the naked body is in no way as long as the actor or actress is presenting it as viewable. And if we see Lust as being one of the 7 deadly sins we need to understand that this is related to the redundancy of these sins, not the word itself. So lust, pride, slothfulness, etc. is more about allowing these things get out of control rather than it being a sin because you are proud or lustful. (Romans 6:19) "I'm speaking in a human way because of the weakness of your corrupt nature. Clearly, you once offered all the parts of your body as slaves to sexual perversion and disobedience. This led you to live disobedient lives. Now, in the same way, offer all the parts of your body as slaves that do what God approves of. This leads you to live holy lives." I think, in understanding these two versus above we can see that the Bible is preaching overindulgence rather than normal human desire. I believe masturbation to be a normal part of humanity. The material used to excite oneself needs to fall into the definition for that to be evil or sinful. I see nudity as a perfectly normal thing to excite yourself with as long as it does not violate ones personal definition of .

You are the right, the bible didn't say anything about Masturbation. I can feel a certain amount of relief after reading all the comments.

There are many preachers, priests, ministers, rabbis, etc. that make up their own versions of the word of our Lord and twist the meaning to fit their agenda. It is best to know the bible yourself and know the meanings from your own perspective. We do not have a God that detests nudity, why would God make anything that was not worthy of praise?

I'm not a church goer and I don't feel scared to question some things or attitude of some pastors or preachers. I now have the relief I seek. I just masturbated few minutes ago lol.

Masturbation is in the Bible: Genesis 38:9-10. The act isn't a sin, it's the intention of the act that's a sin

No, masturbation is an natural human act. You judge the intention, not the action... and your intentions are probably harmless at best.

So if I'm masturbating with thoughts of a particular hot chick in my mind, is that considered as a sin?

On that verse I believe it was misinterpreted from the original Hebrew text. "Onanism is allegedly founded here. Catholic theologians, lacking any authority for their extreme position on birth control, have taken this ancient story of Onan, distorted its meaning by declaring that God slew Onan for his "coitus interruptus", and inflated this interpretation into a whole system of social hygiene for the 20th Century. If this event has any moral at all, it is that every man who refuses to marry his brother's widow and have a child by her should be killed. That, of course, is what happened to Onan. His willful disobedience to his father, his shameful disregard of the rights of his deceased older brother, his heartless fraud perpetrated against Tamar who desperately desired a child, and his selfish greed in hoping to have a bigger estate himself by cheating Tamar ... that was his sin. He was condemned, not just for spilling his seed, but for doing it in order to avoid his marital responsibility. This has nothing to do with masturbation (`onanism'). It was selfish greed. Why is it that such sins are not punished by death today? This sin of Onan required the fatal judgment of God because it could have thwarted the proper foundation of the Messianic family, and was therefore a threat to God's purpose of redeeming mankind. There can be no doubt, that if a similar threat existed today, the judgment of God would be executed in such a manner as to remove it."
