Dld, comong from a boxing back ground as yourself you out of alll people shoulf know when you fast to loose weight you also loose muscle and strength. Its one thing if your over weight and do cardio and lift weights to tighten up while loosing weight hit to be 170lbs at 6' tellls me that guy can not possibly be a fat guy. Maybe and i mean maybe not a muscular guy but not a fat guy. He even said hes NOT FAT. Just because one has a fat pad does not mean hes fat. He just very well may not know how to work his lower abs as alot of guys dont. And are to lazy to put the work in..alot of you by your advice tells me most of you dont even go to a gym. And yes you can target certain areas to loose fat and for one to say you cant is not very smart when it comes to working out. And like i said im 47 years old and when i see my lower abs getting a little bigger i put the work in to get rid of it. Its as simple as that. Im a 170lbs right now and lean! NO FAT PAD BECAUSE I TARGET THE RIGHT AREAS! im not lazy! And to tell a guy whos 6' 170lbs to think about lipo is crazy advice. Why dont you guys go get surgery on your dicks when it doesnt grow in 6 months? Because alot of folks out there have the same philosophy as you do about not being able to target certain areas to loose fat as they will tell you, you cant make your dick bigger also without surgery..no difference at all in the 2..this guy needs to go to a gym to talk to a private trainer not folks who dont work out and no nothing..bad advice lipo! EAT RIGHT AND PUT THE WORK IN! HARD WORK PAYS OFF!

If that were the case I would lack the incredible muscles I have. For 8 years I have fasted and in this time I have actually gained muscle rather than losing it. Everyone is different and everyone has a different metabolism. In my fasting, my body has adjusted to this and my metabolism runs very strong. In the diggings it was difficult as my metabolism was running very slow. It took physical action to force my metabolism to kick in, but it did. Looking at my body today it looks better than it did when I was 18, I am 49 now. Soon I will have pictures. It should also be known that in this year, where I have lost all the weight, I did no weight training or exercise (with the exception of the last month where I do pushups and sit ups every once in a while). So with fasting and no weight training I have increased muscle and lost practically all of my fat.

With fasting i can see you loosing weight. But not working out and gaining muscle how is that possible? When you fast (starving) your body will attack what it can to survive. Wich will be the muscle. If fasting to loose weight and it puts on muscle without working out the bodybuilders are def putting in to much time with diet and working out. do i think fasting can make you loose weight? Of course. Do i think its a healthy thing to do? No way..if what you guys do makes you happy then keep doing what your doing. Good for you guys..all know i been in the gyms and on a competitive level since i been a kid. And had nothing but private coachs the whole time so ill stick with what i been taught and know.. good luck to you guys.

This video explains the caloric deficit while gaining muscle as well as an experiment explanation. But you still need to work out and get good amount of protein to gain muscle

Jeff Cavaliere (aka: Athlean-X) is one of my favourite you tubers and fitness channels out there. He is so full of knowledge and every bit of information that I seem to be searching for he always has the answer to it! Truly someone that i look up to in the fitness industry, he's a lifetime natural and he keeps it real with all of his viewers...

But yes, while in a caloric deficit you MUST make sure that you getting in all the required macros that you need while keeping calories low. If you also don't want to lose any muscle (or at least a lot) you must train for strength, progressive overload.

You dont fast everyday though. If you did it wouldnt be called fasting it would be starving.

I don't think you call it 'fasting' if you eat once per day...I always thought fasting involved consecutive days w/out food, no?

I used to fast for 24 hours. Yeah 12 hours some people call it fasting but to me its just skipping lunch.

Fasting is a period in which you don't eat. The time span can be a span of hours, less, or more. When you sleep, you're fasting because you're not eating.

By your definition everybody fasts.

Good video. And not once did he say to FAST. He talked about upping your protein intake , getting good sleep and not over training. Nothing to do with fasting and building muscle. Like i been saying eat clean and work the body part your not happy with, wich is this guys fat pad. Core and lower ab work with inner thigh work. That will help him more then starving or lipo ever will. And i shouldn't just say hit the inner thighs because you should hit the whole leg but the inner thigh helps loose and tighten up the fat pad. And bro i really dont want to argue over this either. A few of you have a different view then i and thats fine. But there are also folks out there who believe if they eat what they want they can puke it up latter to loose weight or take xlacks..i like i said before if your happy with the results your getting from what your doing then good for you..all i know is that im 46 years old and still box and i am cut up. And I have night crawler veins. Not to bad for being old..i eat clean and work out hard. My coach push's me harder now that im old then he has when i was younger. Good fuel (food) and hard work pays off. Fasting is a easy way to loose weight and never a good idea or safe method..and most that run diets like that in the end gain it back..PEACE!! we just have different veiws lets leave it at that. Were here not to fight each other but help. PEACE!!

Yeah but fasting is technically a caloric deficit because you're fuller in shorter amount of time if you eat the same as you always do meaning less calories. And yes protein in take is very important when trying to gain muscle. I don't understand why you're still trying to attack me I just wanted to share this video with you and I never even referenced fasting with the video so I don't know why you even bring that back.

Thats what it is. When you sleep you don't eat. Google "define Fasting"

Abstaining from eating or sleeping. You do that in your sleep. Unless you guys eat in your sleep.

Kyomoto that is not called fasting..Lol..how old are you?

I guess you're going to resort to an age to identify me as someone who is not knowledgeable when you don't even know the definition of fasting. Google is very helpful. Helps you become literate. You should try it some time.

Right but to abstain from eating is when you don't eat when you otherwise would have. You dont abstain from eating while you sleep. Otherwise every waking second in which you are not putting food in your mouth you are fasting. Then the word looses its meaning.

That counts too. The time you dont eat even if you're awake you're fasting or digesting. It's a term that is loosely used but I always try to go by what its defined as to make things more understandable. People will tend to use words in different meanings and ways which is fine but you have to first define what the word means to you before using it. I know I didn't but now you guys understand i try to go by actual definition most of the time

Well look up the actual definition of abstain. It is a concious effort to not do something.

If you dont eat cause you are not hungry, you are not abstaining from eating. Cause there isn't a need or desire to abstain against.

Well then thats where you start questioning a lot more. You're right about abstaining. But how do you know if you're not consciously making the decision to sleep instead of eat?

See but thats different. If you are hungry and you are tired. And you choose to abstain from eating because u dont want to go out or cook or whatever. You made a concious descision to not eat over sleeping, but the hunger was there. Where as if you eat a hamburger and you are no longer hungry just because you dont go eat another hamburger doesnt mean you are abstaining from eating, the desire or need is no longer there.

Where as if you become hungry while sleeping you dont have the ability to make a conscious choice to go grab a bite to eat.

Just like you wouldnt say a 5 year old is celibate. His desire for sex is not there in the first place for him to refrain from.

I like this conversation. Makes me question much of how even what we refer to proper definitions to use terms that don't necessarily provide enough information.
