Yes, this is fluid retention, or edema. Any time you put pressure on the penis for a length of time, you interrupt the normal flow of blood and interstitial fluid under the skin. This can cause "trapped" fluids. It's temporary of course.

Agreed. Depends on the guys' size too as well as how much wrap you have to use to fit your clamp to give enough pressure. This can be confusing and I actually outline proper wrap and device technique which also works for the Cable Clamp/Cable Cuff in my demo vids on my support forum.....dunno why guys seem to overlook my videos. You should go by personal comfort and penis pressure/feedback as well.
 
Is this bad after my workouts my dick is sore. The edema will it hinder clamping gains
 
Soreness is fine. Fluid retention does not hinder gains. Hopefully you did not read that somewhere else. I know there's a lot of "bro science" on other forums.
 
The correct way to clamp is having the hinge on the side of your dick like an oval or is this the wrong way

No the hinge will be at the bottom so the sides press into the sides of your penis.

Thanks for SWM for answering, I saw the question but I wasn't too sure of a correct answer. Live and learn!

Of course avoiding fluid retention is the best, I think, but I haven't seen hindering in gains even though I do get some from time to time. (When I might be a bit overzealous with pumping for example.)

It happens and going back to the source is the best way to correct it. Start from the basics. Even when you have been in the game for a minute, sometimes going back to basics is what is important.
