Another thread (about pumping) has me all confused about the effectiveness of my girth routine... but anyway, what exactly is this fluid buildup thing, and is it bad for progress? Is it how I should NOT look after a good girth workout?
 
Fluid build up for me usually happens just behind the glans ,kind like a donut effect.it usually last about a day,this occurs with a hard jelq or girth work out,and I get more fluid if i pump
 
For the first say 20min of my girth routine I am hard as rock and my girth pump feels really hard. Then after that I stay hard but start to look more puffy and I usually increase about .5 inch during my routine. After the routine I get a donut effect and stay .5 inch bigger for the next day or so.

Is there a way to not get the donut effect from girth routine?

Does everyone else manage to keep the hard girth pump or does it also get a little bit puffy after a certain time in your workout?

I have the exact same effect as you. Puffy after I become flaccid. But I have to say that my "hard" erection keeps getting larger even after the puffiness subsides. Knowing this, for me I just list the puffiness as a side effect and I keep working and growing.

Egghd had a good post about water intake also. My girth growth stagnated for a bit and I thought it was a plateau. Turns out my water intake during that time had decreased dramatically. Now that I am consuming more water(1 gallon or more a day) again my girth "plateau" has subsided.
 
i'd really like red and dld to comment on this stuff. my main concern (perhaps yours as well, kausion) is that any girth routine that results in this kind of puffy, 'squishy' result, however large the girth increase, is basically the same as pumping - the gains are very temporary. i see constrictors as really long jelqs/ulis, and i wonder why my routine would result in temporary gains only?

oooh a second question. how do jelqs/ulis/constrictors differ from pumping in theory? ive been thinking about it, and they seem to operate on the same principle - stretch the cells inside so that some break, and eventually are rebuilt larger and stronger. whats the difference and what makes jelqs/ulis/constrictors effective while pumping isnt?

fundamental questions that bother the hell out of me... lol

I am only puffy during the second half of the routine. My donut effect stays longer though, I will get hard and the erection is hard with the increased girth but I have a bit of donut under the head.

1 gallon of water a day!? wow thats almost 4 litres. I guess I should start drinking lots of water.

I agree. What are the differences? With any girth exercise, weather it's constrictors, jelqing or pumping, I get the "post excersize pump". Either way, when my erection goes down, I am puffy with some fluid build up.

I guess my question is, what is the major difference between pumping gains and other girth gains? The effects appear to be the same on my cock.
 
If you stretch the tissues properly, they will grow, whether or not fluid build-up has occured. I don't see any logic in thinking that fluid buildup indicates no real gains.

Myself as an example, I used to experience fluid buildup severly when I started clamping, it was just a bubbly mess up to 8 hours post-workout. Now I get very little, but my gains have been consistent (about 1" EG).

Pumping mainly draws fluid in, with little stretching of the tissues, explaining why there are not much permanent gains.
