MGMbill.org is a non-profit organization which aims to provide boys with the same legal protection against genital mutilation as girls. On Sunday, June 27, 2010, supporters of MGMbill.org will participate in the 40th annual San Francisco Pride Parade in order to spread awareness of the need to end male genital mutilation. If you would like to join us, please e-mail the event coordinator, Michael Keith, via michaelkeith1362@comcast.net.

What is this about? Is it SPAM?

Oh, for circumcision, OK.

Ohhh, I thought about the Pain Olympics when I saw the thread title.
Do NOT like that. Massive ouch.

I agree, now if I can get my wife on board 100% with me we'll be golden. I don't want MY son cut either. IF he decides one day that it's ''gross and yucky'' to be natural, so be it. It's a simple, out patient procedure. Hell, I'd even front him the $$ if he needed to pay for it out of pocket. I'd rather it was his decision though when he had half a lifetime to figure out if he liked his body the way it was meant to be.

When Armand was born I decided to half circumcise him, the doctor did a minor clip. SO he is right in the middle.

My wife and I are on the fence per se on the issue. ME, I'd rather my son is old enough to make the decision himself after having half a life time of being educated and informed by his father about how a man is supposed to be naturally, and also taught his penis is not ''icky'' or something to be ashamed of. My wife sees my side of the argument against circumcision, but at the same time doesn't want our son to grow up with ''issues'' because he is not cut like most guys. I'm working on getting her to see that he won't have ''issues'' if we raise him to think properly about his body.

Also, if he decides later on, as a man that he wants to be circumcised, that's his choice. I just don't think that's a decision that should be made for a child to fit into social norms. Getting circumcised as an adult is no longer a big deal either. It's a quick, painless, out patient procedure and heals quickly and without complications. Hell, I think my recent appendectomy was much more of a risky procedure. ;)

what the hell is being half cut? i have never heard of this is there a link or somthing so i can read up on it? i thought of gettin cut but wouldnt want to get a tight circ that shit looks painful lol

My son was half cut, it is when they only remove a small amount of foreskin. It leaves a slight coverage but not completely.

I was cut when i was born and i'm glad. It was too tight for my dick when i was younger and it hurt to piss... so i got circumcised.
I prefer the look of a circumcised penis if i'm honest. I know of more people wanting to be cut than wanting to grow a foreskin.

Just my 2 cents.

circumcision is harmful and unethical when performed without the patient's consent.
I would like to voice disagreement on some points:
*circumcision is always harmful, even if people consent to it.
*besides consent, the patient should be informed, an adult, and free from coercion. Consent alone is not enough to me. Parents could pressure their children into it, after all. I think you should be at least 18 and be told of all the risks and be free from someone pressuring you AND consent before it could be considered an ethical body modification.

If your son knew (or any of us did) about the number of nerves that are removed and the huge amount of pleasure that is removed through circumcision.... I can't imagine him wanting one. And the idea that he'll be in the minority with a "turtle neck" is outdated, you should be more worried about his resentments later on when he learns he lost half or more of the most sensitive part of his penis. Women too are becoming more aware and learning that the intact penis functions better in sex... duh!! (why would a mutilated version of the genitals work better or as good-this isn't rocket science).

It's hardly mutilation. It also isn't an unsound idea: it promotes cleanliness. Period.

If you don't like it, fine, but to call it mutilation is over-the-top sili and lessens the credibility of your "organization".

I am cut and my dad is cut and I will have my son cut too! I think its cleaner and I read some where one time that a foreskin on a penis provides LESS pleasure to the woman!! It basically rolls up and down the as the penis moves and doesn't give as much friction to the woman! I'm no authority, I think lettin the boy decide is a good idea! But I tell you if I had all those nerves I lost I wouldn't be able to hold my load at ALL!! LOL!!

I'm not aware of any sound evidence to the more cleanliness claim. You should realize that doctors have stood by circumcision with a number of bogus arguments, which include:

"It's just like getting his ears pierced" (really? People don't bleed to death from getting ears pierced, and they never have to have their ears cut off to save their lives!)

"Babies don't feel pain." (go watch a video of a circumcision-case closed on that one)

"It's cleaner." (I see, so how did evolution allow us to keep foreskins and why don't all the europeans have penis problems then??????)

I'd also point out that originally circumcision was just a ritual, for no other reason than a spiritual practice and they didn't remove anything-they just sliced it.

Now look-they are taking a chunk of your penis and killing it til it falls off-it IS mutilation, that is just being blunt. It is not an exaggeration, unless you are in denial.
It is NO different than slicing off a clitoris. The true nature of circumcision being predominant in the west today is that the catholic church wanted to curb masturbation and they figured by cutting off the most sensitive parts they would accomplish that (clearly they don't realize how motivated boys and men are).... you know how your penis is most sensitive underneath.... that's what's left of your foreskin bud. Why don't you research this, watch some circumcisions, read about how babies get their penises CUT OFF or DIE because of it-do those options sound "cleaner"?

The penis has a foreskin for a reason-and it has to do with the motion of sex inside a vagina-it works better with a foreskin, the ladies note the difference too. Anyway, I'm stating facts here-and anyone that has their babies' penises MUTILATED has made a serious error. You think it's okay and that I'm making a big deal out of nothing because you live in this culture that minds this GENITAL MUTILATION acceptable... but that's just mass delusion. The Africans that practice clitorectomies think that's "normal" too. But I bet that one seems obvious to you since you're outside that culture. It's no different here-leave the babies alone-what an awful first sexual experience, what a way to destroy trust with your son, what a violation of a personal freedom and what a way to mess up healthy sexuality.

It is an abomination, it is barbaric, it is an outdated ritual pushed by a horrible institution.

I agree with Crazy Doc. As far as I know, there is no CONCRETE evidence that cirumcision of the penis is more protective against obtaining any sort of disease or infection of any sort & I was actually considering having one done last year when I heard that the majority of americans have them done. Luckily I did some research & read that not only does an intact foreskin give one more sensitivity/pleasure, but from the videos I've seen & posts I've read it seems that most of the WOMAN who had sexual relations with uncircumcised men ALSO felt more pleasure & preferred them over circumcised ones (don't know why, so don't ask me). The whole cleanliness of it or the penis having a nasty smell to it.... Just wash it the right way & you shouldn't have that problem. Honestly, I guess I realized I'm not TRYING to be like everybody else & whatever woman I get with will have to like me for who I am & if not...... then on to the next one. At the end of the day I think the decision should be left up to the child when grown. I for one am Glad they didn't cut MINE off ;D -Just my opinion

There are plenty of bad things the body has evolved to do: store fat, become addicted, age, deposit plaque in arteries, etc.

A friend of mine was 27 when he was circumcised. He said it was cleaner. He also said his wife prefered blow jobs with him circumcised due largely to taste.

Besides, there's no benefit to having an area where bacteria can fester.
