Prostate Cancer Survivor Questions

Hey Fella's,
Last year I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and underwent a Nerve Sparing Radical Prostatectomy that so far has left me unable to achieve a spontaneous erection. If this continues to be the case I'm going back for a "complete hydraulic retrofit" later this year. My problem is that NONE of the Med staff, including my Doc EVER mentioned the possibility of penile shrinkage and atrophy as a negative side affect of the surgery. Is there any of you that can tell me if I can benefit from a program like this in reclaiming some of my size back? I'd really like some length back before the installation of the "hydraulic package"...............

Congrats on surviving Cancer... big props to you.

I don't see why it wouldn't benefit you... Becuase of your inability to keep an erection, girth work will be extremely difficult. But gaining length from flaccid stretching is definitely possible.
 
Before you go for the "hydraulic" solution, which I understand is permanent and non-reversible, have you considered, and tried, some of the other medicinal solutions for ED. Even if one pill doesn't work, try the others too. There is also the possibility of using some of the older methods to achieve an erection such as muse or caver-jet.
 
I've tried all the pills with no effect other than increased circulation...which is not a bad thing. I use the CAVERJECT now....I'm not too crazy about it. We've got kids in and out all day and night so it takes the spontaneity out of the moment. CAVERJET is a pain in the ass....(make that dick)....anyway. It's not that I'm squeamish about needles....believe me.....if I had to shove glass rods in my dick to get a decent boner I'd do it! CAVERJECT gives me a very painful erection, it totally detracts from my excitement and after we're through it's an even more painful erection that lingers on for an hour and a half or two. I'm not sure what MUSE is . At this point I'll try anything. The idea of being able to have a spontaneous erection at any time, for as long as you need it, and with out carrying a lab around with you is very appealing.

Again, I truly appreciate y'all answering my plea for help and will also appreciate any advice or knowledge you can share.

Yep.....it's a no-go. Apparently it takes a year or so for the nerves that are disturbed during the procedure to grow back....that'll be August. But so far Nada. The "up" side is I'm still breathing....and hope to for some time to come. Having a boner naturally would be nice....but I can work around that with a pump implanted.....to be there at my command 24/7/365 for as long as I need it. I could service the whole neighborhood.....line'em up and take a number. Life is a trade off.....there's an up side to almost everything.
 
Hi Dan, Yes congrats on overcoming the cancer. I know of a lot of men who are totally non functioning after this surgery, but seem not to want to talk about it. So, you are at least amoung the few, who want to do something about it. I had peyronies and lost length. Determined to overcome this debilitating disease, I have worked hard for three years, gained my lost length back and added some as well as incresed girth. I believe you can work and it is work, to get some life back into your penis. With increased blood flow and increased penile health, who knows, you might be able to have a normal erection. Rebuilding muscles, and regaining health in the penis is what Penis Enlargement is all about. How much did you lose in length? Do you have any indication of an erection? We will give you the encouragement to help anyway we can. GS
 
Hey I also am a prostate ca survivor. I had external beam radiation--burn up everything. Three years out. No problems with erections yet, but no ejaculations. Orgasms are more intense.Also, have had shrinkage--God wasn't that generous to begin with.Wife walked out after 25yrs marraige and am starting to date again desperate to regain/gain mor length and girth. rmc

Dan, I have been down that same road as you. I had a radical prostatectomy back in 2002. It left me with less sensation, ED, stress incontinence (which was eventually surgically resolved with a bladder sling), and peyronie's (had surgery for that, too). I have tried everything. Yes injections work, but like you described, they give me a very painful erection, which is probably compounded by the peyronies scar tissue, which doesn't expand. Oh, and the shortened length after removing the prostate gland. You normally lose 1 to 1 1/2" of length. I was about 6 1/2 " before, and 5" after. After 13 years of little or no sex life, I will be getting some hydraulic plumbing installed this coming Fall. And like you, I would like to stretch things out as much as possible before they size me for the implant. I was encouraged by the fact that my doctor suggested using a vacuum pump to stretch things out. He said, realistically, I might be able to gain and additional 1/2" I have already done that. I think the first 1/2" is probably fairly easy to obtain, and I suspect, based on where I am right now, that additional length will come slower, and with much greater difficulty. In addition to using a good, strong mechanical pump with a vacuum gauge (I was using an automatic pump, but it was way to weak and finally failed), and a spring tensioned stretching device (not really happy with the type I have), and some manual stretching exercises. I am looking at other stretching methods that will allow me to maintain a stretch for an extended period of time, without causing circulation problems and tissue damage. I think that's the hard part, stretching without creating some kind of permanent problem. My doctor said, when using the pump, that I needed to pump it up the point where I can feel a bit of discomfort, but not so much as to cause bruising or other symptoms. In other words, the tissues has to be taxed or challenged, to encourage it to stretch and, I assume to generate new tissue cells.

So that's where I am right now, and what I know. Good luck with your growth project. (I'll just be happy if I can regain 1" of the 1 1/2" I lost.)
