I used to reverse kegel until I found that my pc muscles were strong enough to work with a squeeze instead. It's more about the timing. If you reverse or squeeze when you are passed the "point of no return" than it doesn't matter what you do, you're gonna cum. Finding where that point is for you is the key.
You should experiment and see what works best for you.

I recently experienced multiple orgasms and just wanted to share it with you all.
I don't generally do much kegels, but I think the trick is doing them at the right time.
The thing I do is to stop masturbating for a couple of seconds (at random points) and do a few kegels, then continue. When I feel like the orgasm is near, but not there yet, I stop and again do some kegels, but it's not actually delaying the orgasm a lot, just "preparing" for it by squeezing the PC muscles. Then, a dozen seconds later, when I feel I can't hold it back anymore I let go of my penis (provided I am using my hands ) ), squeeze the PC muscle as hard as I can and then experience a full-body, intense (almost as a regular) orgasm with little to no ejaculation - 1-2 drops of semen at most, if I do it right. And it feels great, the orgasms later when I do ejaculate are some of the best I've ever had.
I don't achieve 100% success, but I try to recreate it every time I masturbate and have at least 1 or 2 orgasms before I get to the final one when I actually ejaculate.
So, to summarize - the keys for me are kegels, preparation and timing.
