I have been dealing with depression and anxiety for about 3 months and it would literally kill my appetite. There were days I would eat 500 calories and not feel hungry, but I couldn't function properly on that much food and my blood levels would get really low.

I've tried everything to fix it naturally and there were weeks where I felt good for 2 weeks then fall back into depression and it would kill my appetite again. This cycling for about 3 months just ruined everything, the main stress-reliever I had was going to the gym and getting my appetite killed every few weeks killed my progress in the gym. After going through a cycle of eating almost nothing a week I bounce back and I'm good for 2 weeks this time I couldn't bounce back and didn't get my appetite back. I was done with it and went to the doc to get an anti-depressant the doc prescribed me citalopram and I felt better and guess what I got my appetite back so I was feeling pretty good.

The only side effect is it absolutely killed my sexdrive.. my EQ went from 10/10 to 4/10 right now. Which I'm really bummed about it I haven't done pe for about 3 months now and the only thing I thought was if I get better I'm gonna start pe again and now I'm better but I still can't PE. I'm on it for about 2 weeks now I was wondering if anyone had experiences with SSRI's and lowered sex drive and if there is any SSRI that doesn't lower sex drive. I know the depression and appetite killing is really bad but 4/10 eq is equally bad in my book. I used to watch everyday literally everyday when I woke up before I went to sleep I enjoyed watching I was super horny and now I don't even think about . I haven't watched in a week I don't have any desire watching it I don't get random boners it feel like my dick is dead.

I completely understand as I go through depression and my appetite becomes a huge target for the illness. My suggestion is power drinks that are packed with positive calories that will keep you in good shape even through the tough times. Diet and rest are the most important factors in relieving depression and getting yourself level headed. Working out will only make things better as the positive flow of natural "good feeling" hormones are released to help with your mood. Keep a good supply of Ensure (or any other protein power drink) around so the days you miss eating from lack of appetite you can swallow them down instead. Also, talk, talk, talk! Express your pain to us, your friends and family (or a good councilor) and really work on solid, cognitive ways to get out of the dumps and above them to get a better perspective on life. Even the tough parts of life are a gift and when we are faced with these times it is truly a test of self to effectively pick ourselves up, brush ourselves off and get back to a healthy lifestyle. Sometimes it takes time so be patient with yourself and gentle, happiness is waiting for you, believe me.

How old are you?

You should research the ketogenic diet. I use it once a month to balance my hormones, raise my test levels, and increase my sensitivity to insulin.

Checking it out.

a low carb diet is not good for a depressed person because it decrease serotonin levels in the brain.
I agree it works great in a normal state and once you pass that first week you start to feel much better.

WhiteBurry- I know what you go threw but its just like the winter it will pass away, give it time and try to eat more complex carbs it will make you feel much better.

Hey WhiteBurry, .. antidepressants are incapable of doing anything towards positive mood in the absence of folate..

And in the presence of sufficient neurologic/metabolic drivers, like folate, antidepressants are unnecessary ...

(That's why antidepressant pharmacos don't tell anyone that, .. although currently they're researching patentable variants of folate so they can upsell it to people for 1,000x its vitamin store prices .. etc ... )

Seriously, do this, ... get and take:

*5-Methyl Tetra Hydro Folate (coenzyme-activated 'folic acid') [link] at the label dosage at lunchtime.

*B Healthy by Emerald (100% co-enzyme activated B-vitamins .. neurologic/metabolic drivers. [Link] This is currently the best B-complex product on the entire planet. The label dosage is what's called 'b-50', so it'll be fine for you to double it ... Two in the morning and Two more in the late afternoon.

After a couple months of this, .. and the other items listed below, you can probably drop the dedicated 5-MethylFolate at lunchtime because the B-Healthy product has it as well. If after dropping it you feel worse at-all then start taking it again.

!!! As these build in your system, cycle off of the Citalopram (!!) ... it .. and any SSRI ... mess with your normal neurochemical cascades by clumsily trying like an anxious fresHydromaxan to grope around straight for your brain's 'tits' while ignoring your eyes and dreams and favorite color.

If they work at all, it's barely, and by brute force, and they'll quit working after a while as they get 'unfriended' and 'ignore-user' (down-regulated) in your system from any positive effect at all .. leaving only negative, or possibly very Dangerous negative side effects.

Just remember, you're not depressed because of a '(RS)-1-[3-(dimethylamino)propyl]-1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1,3-dihydroisobenzofuran-5-carbonitrile' (Citalopram) deficiency.

(usually I'll try to pull up some weblink to get people started on a subject besides me here ranting about dipsh*ttery, found this [Link] , decent gloss, doesn't get into a larger understanding but does define the issue and, indeed, it mentions study-dosages 20% higher than I've listed above.)

*If it's Spring season where you are, get outside for some sunshine on your skin. if you can't do that, get this [Link] and take One in the morning and One in the late afternoon along with the B-Healthy. If that seems like a lot, it's not. A few minutes in the sun will quickly give you 5x that much, and the UV-radiated vegetables people were eating in the 1920s (although it was the weaker D2) amounted to more like 80x that much. The gov cracked down on it because hospitals were going out of business.

*Get unflavored Soda Water (water with CO2 diffused in it, 1 liter bottles, available at almost any supermarket) and unflavored (original) Milk of Magnesia [Link]. If the Soda Water from wherever you find it is a weak version, you might want to chill it down in the fridge before the next part to preserve as much of the carbonation as possible when it's opened. -- Open up the Soda Water, carefully take a small swig or pour a small amount out to make room, and then into the Soda Water bottle pour a 3/4 measuring cap (that'll be 3 tablespoons) of the Milk of Magnesia, .. then quickly put the cap back on the Soda Water and shake well. It will be a cloudy white at first, but then as the reaction occurs it will become crystal clear again. -- What this does: 'Milk of Magnesia' is Magnesium Hydroxide. It's not remarkable on its own except that larger amounts will make you poo. But mix Magnesium Hydroxide with CO2 and they become Magnesium BiCarbonate, which is what everyone's Pancreas tries to make and use to create Health and essentially Life Itself. This is so new that the top experts on it are still getting their first books out. I have the recessive supersmeller and supertaster genes active, so to me it smells and tastes a bit like 'feet', but Health it is (!) ... it alkalizes the entire body, it's a precursor for serotonin, quick conversion to Magnesium Threonate for the brain, i could do this all day ... It must be warned that the amounts resultant in the liter bottle is FOUR (4) servings of around 8 ounces each. One bottle of converted Magnesium BiCarbonate is FOUR day's worth of product. If you drink all of that in one day (as people I know have .. from not listening, and that's multiple people - in case anyone of them reads this and thinks I mean 'them' LMAO ) be sure to have a clear path planned to the toilet and may God bless you on your journey!

It can take months for Magnesium to build back up in the body. This ^ is the direct pancreatic form. Keep doing it as a habit, and feel free to get magnesium from other quality sources (not 'oxide', which is 96% unavailable) .. as well.

*Iodoral Iodine [Link] resupplies the thyroid function for energy production in the body, (proper thyroid function should be responsible for 80% of energy function ... and everyone's worn-out adrenaline glands for 20% tops. But in the absence of sufficient Iodine, and in the presence of Fluoride and Bromide toxicity, the adrenals are forced to handle the majority of energy production and they are not up to it. the results are quickly fatigue and contributory stressors for depression. One per day is the normal dosage. You will probably need to (if not want to) do a Loading/Flushing phase by taking it 4 x per day for two weeks. In those amounts it forces fluorine and bromine out of your body and your brain. You will likely get a Massive Headache from this for two to four days. Afterwards the headache stops and thinking is clearer, along with higher systemic energy.

(Just, btw, in case some 'doctor' retard tries to 'wisdom' you out of doing this stuff, take this as an example ... you cannot test for sufficient iodine by doing their ignoramus passthrough test. The idea is that if you need it, it will stay in the body and if you don't need it it'll be passed on through. The problem is that fluorine and bromine are both column-toxins (from the same elemental column as iodine) and insalubriously they both have a higher affinity for iodine receptors in the body than the iodine itself does. So their passthrough test proves not only nothing .. but worse than nothing because they then base medical opinions on a test which is incapable of working. Much of industrial medicine is like that. If you break a bone ... go there. If it involves molecular biology and the nutritive expression of DNA ... Run.)

(Which, as sidebar, is all a little bewildering since the father of medicine (!) said over 2,300 years ago: "Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food.")

*Zinc is a cofactor for thyroid energy production and also for digestion of other minerals, .. and 300 to 400 other things in the body. Get more than 40mg per day from quality sources.

*Selenium, preferably selenomethionine .. shoot for 200mcg/day, but don't get less than that by trying to not get more. Used in also hundreds of processes it'd take a book to describe. For purposes here mostly serotonin cofactor and precursor cofactor for S-adenosylmethionine for melatonin production, and a gutathione cofactor. -- The B vitamins, incl Folate, vitamin D, Selenium, and Magnesium are needed to make serotonin. See more below on that and its cycle ..

*Vitamin K is the last cofactor, get some of that from somewhere. It's difficult to find a well-made 'Multi' to recommend which does not have extraneous, inferior, and at that point unnecessary, versions of the items listed above .. so single item products of high quality and sufficient bioeffective dosaging are required. Other cofactors you'll already be getting from the other items listed above.

Two last items, to directly address the other entire half of your nervous system .. the Enteric Nervous System ..., and things to avoid: Stop eating GMO foods. Find a non-GMO foods website, or two, on the web and avoid the buying and eating GMO products they list like the plague they are. For your purposes one of the worst will be all yellow corn, but others are horrible too. They're radically inflammatory of the gut (enteric nervous system, part of the autonomic nervous system circuit) and therefore also inflammatory of the brain as well .. and all of that is Hormone Disruptive. (Bingo, there's why to avoid it.) Besides avoiding GMO's, get and take these:

*Dr Ohira's Probiotics [Link] , they'll be fresher from his own website. From an Amazon or etc there's a big chance of being degraded from heat and storage time. - and -

*Lifeway Kefir [Link] -- link is just visual example, you should be able to find this or something similar in a decent supermarket's health or yoghurt section.

These last two taken together will culture the probiotics into your gut flora so they stay there and grow on their own, rather than essentially only providing benefit while being actively taken. Most probiotics provide little actual benefit .. and cease immediately if you stop taking them. These two will culture in and stay there. Feel free to also run into fermented cabbage (Sauerkraut and/or Kimchi) as well. Proper gut flora will build your immune system, radically decrease hormonally disruptive inflammation of the ANS, allow the production of 90% - or more - of your body's serotonin, (!!!) along with 29 other neurotransmitters, better-absorb nutrients from your foods and supplements, and you'll get half as fat eating the exact same garbage. - Which is an amazing trick, but also stop eating garbage. First web [Link] that popped up.

Last thing, serotonin is part of a serotonin/melatonin cycle. From day to night these are, roughly, reconverted into each other and stored for releasing upon optical light/dark triggers during the different halves of the day. L-Tryptophan is involved in their production, or even better 5-Hydroxytryptophan (as the metabolic intermediary. Serotonin is '5-hydroxytryptamine', just to show how close those are).

Look here [Link] for some starting dosages, and things to look out for. I'd include a more biochem link than that one, but the concepts of being watchful that the SSRI drugs do not further magnify their 'suicidal ideation' features by clashing with normalized (natural) serotonin production cannot be stressed strongly enough. SSRIs are Strongly Contraindicated if upregulating/normalizing your normal hormonal cascades. Do Not Do Both.

If I left anything out it wasn't much. That all might sound like a lot but it's really just a lifestyle change and it will actually make you well ... rather than blindly swinging a brick around at things like your sex drive.
