I was looking to add some variety to my PE routine and I got the itch to do some hanging again. I had a fire a while back at my apartment building and had no weight plates and had no desire to buy any. I had bought a set of Bodylastics bands to exercise with and they are great! They are the best resistance bands made. I got the idea; why not use them for hanging? I attach the bands to my headboard and my hanger and lie back. The stretch is incredible! I hang while lying down, working on my computer, watching tv or whatever. They are very convenient and I actually like the stretch I get with them better than weight plates. I am looking forward to some great gains using them.

The hell if I know. These are so well made it is very unlikely to happen.

yes please..........cause I have Bodylastics too lol

Where can you get them?

Good looking out Bro!

Just checked them out, pretty cool system and very similar to the SRT Bands we are creating for the LengthMaster.

That's 21lbs in just bands there?

I wonder how many lbs of stretch you're getting.

Looks like an awesome stretch, but it wouldn't really be something I would do as there is no telling what stretch you're getting in terms of lbs. Unless of course you used a tension scale, but that still wouldn't work since they're tension based and moving an inch closer might make the stretch 3-5lbs lighter.

For instance, you would never know when to increase weight and @ what weight to increase it to, as you don't have a accurate idea of the weight/tension in the first place. Like w/ actual weights, you can move up 2-3lbs per however many weeks/months until the gains start/stop coming. A resistance band would seem to rely more on speculation.

Maybe I need to research resistance bands more. The only experience I have w/ them is almost getting slapped when a bracket slipped off a door @ a friends place.
I'm not sure @ what point of tension is rated for the lbs labeled per band. Does anyone know?

EDIT: Figured it out after a wee-bit of searching:

Wow! I didn't know what I was doing was that involved.:) The bands I am using are different than the ones for the chart. The bodylastics have the lbs engraved on the metal clips. This is supposed to be the resistance at the fullest stretch. Having used both these and weights, I can tell you it is pretty damn close. I will use them like weights, adding resistance slowly and safely. They do give one helluva stretch.

I couldn't find a chart for the brand you were using, so used the only one I could find.

I could see it working, say adding a 3lb band each time you wanted to increase in weight, but it seems they're all over the place in terms of weight.

Anyways. It's thinking outside the box which is nice.

deffinitely going to try my resistance bands now after seeing you pic. I have thought about this before but never followed through even though the bands are right by my bed lol.

Thanks for the pic! You could really hit some good angles that would just be to difficult to do with free weights.

Just wanting to put out that you really only need the basic angles. SD/SO/SU/BTC w/ the varying fulcrum adaption depending on if that's what you wanted to do.
Even if someone wanted to hang sideways or @ a 90 degree, it's as simple as moving a chair right/left or tweaking the body just slightly.

This method should be easily adoptable. One can easily increase the tension by simply stretching further. Gotta love physics ^^

One way of measuring how much tension is being applied, is using one's legs to have a fixed distance (extended and pressed against a giving surface). This way one can change the bands while maintaining the distance constant and know approximately the amount of tension. Am I clear enough with the explanation? It's just a thought or idea to make this exercise more consistent.

Maybe I'm too stupid to understand all this, but it just seems like it would be very difficult to gauge how many lbs of pull you're getting unless you did measurements from your tip to the ground and had a chart to go off those measurements. Or unless you had a tension scale that mounted on the bands, then to the hanger hook.

From the chart I posted: Using the green band @ 30" you're getting 10lbs of force, but the green band is rated @ 10lbs and can actually get 17lbs @ max stretch (assuming 6' is max stretch).

Just seems like a hassle. Love the idea of not having to fuck w/ weights though. Plus it's much easier to kick aside if someone walks in on you and thinks you're about to kill yourself cause there's weights and a cord strung across the floor.

Well, I know it might be a tad complicated to understand what I roughly tried to explain but it's pretty easy really.
Your legs mark the distance, the bands create the tension at that given distance. Perhaps for me it's easy to see since I'm the one thinking about the idea lol Sorry! ^^
