Does working length-only before working on girth really make much of a difference?

I keep seeing the analogy that "it's easier to stretch a thin rubber band than a thick one" to support the idea of working on length only, and then moving on to girth once you've hit your goal. However I see a lot of guys who still work both length/girth at the same time.

For me i gained 2 inches via just stretching and no girth work. You can gain doing both but in my personal opinion its easier to gain length then girth because of your analogy. But that's just my opinion.

after having gone hog wild with girth training, I really think if I could do it over again I would:
1) do a length only routine and push hard until I really feel like I plateaued
2) then start hardcore girth training ONLY after having gained 2+ inches of length

It works better and is more efficient to only do length or girth at a time depending on your goal. BUT I think gaining length first makes a lot more sense for the long run. just my 2 cents im sure some people will disagree

I'm glad I got myself to 8.25 inches before focusing on girth. Now I'm training length and girth daily at this point. I want to train length for 1 more year before calling it a quit for length.
