I don't see how you could make that clamp create a funnel shape. Perhaps the leading edge can be bent out slightly with pliers or a vice?

yea, i definitely don't see that happening lol

Maybe you could get a shorter clamp which could be flared with pliers?

i haven't seen any shorter than 3" before. is there a specific wrapping technique i could use to get the same effect?

I don't see how since the wrap will deform eventually. You could try wrapping a "funnel" by adding turns as you get toward the back. But I doubt this would make a difference since the clamp is rigid. I'm not sure why you can't just turn up the leading edge of this clamp. Seems that a decent vice and pliers should be able to do the job. You could attach the clamp to a piece of metal pipe and let the leading edge (1/2" or so) hang off the end of the pipe. Then use pliers or a mallet or similar to slightly bend the leading edge outward all the way around.

i could try, but it seems pretty solid. i'll give it a shot tomorrow

In 2002 Bib published how to make his original Bib Hanger out of PVC pipe. It was the prototype. It's probably around here somewhere.

You could also look into the LengthMaster, it's hanger is very good and distributes weight very evenly. Plus you can do a ton of other exercises.

yea...i tried the pliers and it just ruined the clamp

Have you tried the LengthMaster? The Bundle chamber is great with hanging. You could even make your own if you are handy with tools.

how much does it cost?

They are $99 and there is so much more you can do with it. I am not an avid hanger, I only hung for a few months using the Bib. The LengthMaster really spreads the weight load across the entire chamber making it very even and comfortable. Wrapping is a must but once you get it down it is all smooth sailing. I am not a big hanger but from the reviews I have gotten guys love the LM for hanging.

If it's flexible enough that pliers could ruin it, I'm wondering why it can't be flexed? Do you mean that the pliers just scratched it?

see, i had it pictured in my hand that the edges would bend out smoothly, but instead it bent in a squared off shape and it ended up making like a triangle kinda shape haha

Generally speaking, when you bend metal with pliers you should do it in small increments.

Heating it up a bit will help too....learned that on "Wheeler Dealer's" UK:)

i did. i did it as carefully as possible but the metal just isn't malleable like that. it's kinda flimsy and sticks in whatever position it bends to

i actually tried using the semi-messed up clamp today and it worked a little better. the wrap still slipped off after a couple minutes though

Be sure you're applying the hanger with the idea the tissue to take the weight is in front of the conical portion. As the weight is applied the hanger will move forward and the tissue will bunch. The conical shape allows the tissue to take a funnel shape thereby stopping the hanger from moving any farther forward.

It's ok if your wrap slips. The wrap is only to provide cushion between the hanger and your skin. It serves no other role. If the hanger is slipping keep trying to find that spot where it performs as I just described.

Usually the spot is about 1 inch behind the glans. Therefore your T-band should start about 1/2 inch behind the glans and barber-pole wrap toward the base to protect the entire area the hanger will contact.
