Ok I'm calling it: Using an SG extender beyond it's limits is a safer way to stretch than hanging weights.
My reasoning is that an extender is far more controlled and it's an incremental application of force compared to a free hanging weight.
When you extend an SG past the point where the springs disengage, you're using just the mechanics of the screws being wound out, so what you're doing is applying a heavy, controlled force over a very short distance, absolutely no way to accidentally over-stretch...
