Ok guys. I've been talking about doing this for several months now. Now it's time to come through on my end. Starting yesterday I am on a fat loss and toning up routine. Very simple thing really. My goal is to lose between...guestimating what I need to lose to look good when I look in the mirror...15-20lbs of fat around my midsection. I've cut out my soda consumption. No soft drinks. That is where most of my carbohydrate intake was coming from. As many of you may know, carbohydrates are simple sugars which the body stores as fat when you dont burn them up. I've also cut out most of my bread and pasta consumption. This is a very hard thing to do...as DLD can relate to, being that he's an Italian....I'm Greek...breads and pasta are a big part of our diet too! But, breads and pastas are another huge source of dietary carb. intake. Those gotta go!

I'm drinking 8-10++ glasses of water daily. Not hard to do for me. I'm a former Marine and the first thing they do from day one at boot camp besides teaching you to say YES SIR, is to love to drink water. I'm pissing clear or very light yellow with very little color now. Clean system. Now, I said most of my carb intake is being cut out. That does not mean all of it. I am pretty knowledgeable with diet and fitness...used to be my life for a few years...I know that you can put your body into a state of "shock" if you totally cut out carbs. Carbs though for the most part besides an occasional handfull of candy or one or two sodas a week will come from complex carbs like a potatoe or a slice of bread here or there.

I'm taking an herbal fat burner supplement to aid in this process. See the supplements forum for my post on that there. For exercise...another important part of losing fat/toning up, I am doing several sets of push ups and crunches pretty much every day with days off when I feel I need them. You CAN do crunches, pushups, exercise daily. Tell the Navy Seals they cant do that and see what they say! LOL.

So, here starts a new phase for me. Here's a pic of me "before". I kept most of my size/shape from the Marines. I weigh close to what I did before getting out three years ago. 5'9", 185lbs. The difference being that I'm out of shape from a strength and bodyfat level standpoint. That's all changing though. Another reason I'm doing this besides wanting to be able to see my "six pack" again, is to lose some of my "infamous" fat pad. It's pretty disgusting down there guys. 1.5" of fat pad. Not as bad as Ron Jeremy but damn, I could qualify for his little brother. SO, losing this body fat should hopefully bring out at most another inch of non bone pressed length. Currently 7" non bp. To be 7.75-8" non bp ....without any additional length work....oh maaan...that in itself is very motivating!! I'll update as I feel I'm making progress. Probably monthly.

Oh, as far as tracking fat loss...unlike most people...who are doing it wrong by the way...I will not be using a scale to weigh myself. Only a mirror and my fingers to pinch bodyfat. When we're talking about losing bodyfat in this type of situation, it's actually best NOT to use a scale to track body fat loss. Your weight levels can go up or down whether you lose fat or not. IF you are exercising you can add muscle and gain muscle weight...muscle weighs more than fat and can make you think youre gaining weight or fat...when in reallity youre gaining muscle. I'm not asking for luck here. "Wish me luck guys" are the famous last words of every shortcomer or non achiever.

This is exactly what I'm planning to do this week, I need to get my body fat waaaay down. I am currently at my fattest ever! I don't plan on a strict diet or anything, but I will be doing alot of intense exercising. I'm about the same height as you, about 15lbs heavier and my fat pad is about 1.5" so you can see why I need this too.

I wish you all the luck Bro!! As you are very dedicated, I know that you will succeed in your quest! I to have been planning a routine to get rid of a few unwanted fat cells! Even though I am 6'2", I still could loose some weight, and tone up! I drink allot of cokes, as the water over here sux! My fat pad is roughly 2.5 to 3". Keep us posted! Perhaps we can share ideas on toning and weight loss.

Best of luck!!

I remember the days of my six pack. They were gone after the days that I could BUY a six pack, if you know what I mean. If you don't, I mean when I turned 21 and start drinking more often and exercising less. I have around 10 pounds of body fat to lose before I can see them again, but unlike SWM I'm going to start a diet AFTER the holidays. Although I will start an exercise routine on Monday.

I have been thinking of this myself for awhile. I want to do a whole body makeover, changing my body and penis. I can visulaize my complete new body. I think I will just spend the next 12-16 weeks locked in my lab and emerge with a new body and no one will recognize me.

I just wanted to say one thing about your carbs. If I read right, your carbs would be complex like potato and occasional bread. But where are your vegetables? There is nothing wrong with eating a lot of vegetables, especially since theyare nutrient dense and have very little carbs in comparison. For example, even in the strictest phase of the Atkins diet, you are still suposed to eat 3 cups of vegetables a day. Of course the biggest reason would be the nutrients. I know yu said you know a lot about nutrition and I believe you; but I just wanted to point that out.

Yes, I do already eat green leafies pretty regularly...will be increasing my intake there as well...theyre also a great source of Calcium....how ya think cows get Calcium? LOL. Veggies are great in my book!

Here's a suggestion for any one trying to loose weight in the middle section. Get a tube of industrial shrink wrap( the kind used in a shipping warehouse). Take the shrink wrap, and wrap it around your mid-section twice. It should stick together, and hold. It should be fairly tight and compressed, but not to tight to where you can't breath or too loose, so as to allow air circulation underneath. The compression of the wrap, helps break up the fat cells, and the wrap itself, smoothers the skin, causing it to sweat. Could be used in conjunction with a fat burning aid, exercise, or you can wear it during your daily routine, totally concealed. Can be used on double chins, or other problem areas, as well.

GUYS THE EASIEST SUPPLEMENT TO HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT IS GLUTAMINE. WHAT IT DOES IS CONTROL THE BRAIN'S SUGAR CRAVINGS (BREAD, PASTA, BEER). TAKING 10-20 GRAMS A DAY (POWDER IS EASIEST) YOU WON'T EVEN THINK OF CHEATING WITH STARCHY CARBS.
