I'm a 45 year old male, fairly good shape, work out at the gym a ton. I have spent the last few months packing on some muscle on my back to give myself more of a V shape. I went in for my physical in the past few weeks and was shocked to have my doctor tell me that after reviewing my blood tests, I am a full point lower than their "low" for free testosterone. 5.7 on a scale from 6.8 to 21.3.

I was stunned.

I am not sure how that is even possible given the workouts I manage, the strength I have, and the gains I have made, but the numbers are what they are. I was wondering if there are any folks here with knowledge about this topic. What could be causing this, and what does it mean for me when they start giving me drugs to jack it up?

Free testosterone doesn't necessarily tell the whole story without a full hormone panel.

That said, if you feel good, I wouldn't start putting outside compounds into your system.
-However, if you plateau and feel like your recovery could be better, you may want to look into it.

Also, depending on how you slept the night before, what you've been eating, and how long after waking your levels were tested can all create variance in the test results.

It's also good to ask for a double panel so you get tested twice. Most insurance companies will comply with this.

I'd get your done another 1/2 times to see if there's a change in your levels as there only really a guide not gospel.

Testosterone starts to decrease as you get older and its not uncommon for older bloke to have lower levels but if your gaining in the gym, still getting erections/horny, facial hair growing as it always has and genially feel good I wouldn't worry to much about it unless the things I've mentioned start to change.

TRT (testosterone replacement therapy) is a option but this can sometimes make things worse and I'm unsure how your health care works over in the states

Testicle Health Massage and Stretch found in the Newbie Routine is a good way to stimulate testosterone production.

Testosterone level decreases due to poor lifestyle.. If you are eating proper nutrition food and exercising, it will definitely increase your testosterone level.

It is due to signaling problem between the brain and the testes. Signs are:

Sexual dysfunction
Reduced sexual activity
Decreased energy
Loss of body hair, reduced shaving
Depressed mood
Increase in body fat
Decrease in bone strength
Reduced muscle mass
Hot flashes, sweats

I have a few of these symptoms but I know my testosterone is good. One issue I do have is a HUGE loss in sexual appetite, but this may be due to my being celibate and perhaps adjustments in my psyche.
