Are you supposed to hit a bag with 16oz gloves? We use bag mits for heavy bag training, and only 16oz gloves when doing Vale Tudo training.
Also, I don't think the wrist weights will help your technique.

If you improve technique, speed and power will come. No doubt.

If you want to lift weights, do exercises that will strengthen your triceps, and your lats. ALSO, TRAIN YOUR LEGS AND HIPS! LEGS AND HIPS ARE VERY IMPORTANT FOR PUNCHING.

Dude I have started practicing kung fu...but am still a beginner about to hit the one year mark.....

If you want a stronger punch your best bet is to work on your punch and have someone teach you technique.....without solid technique your punch will never be as strong as it could be....you are much better off with technique and then you can try to bulk up but really technique is all you need.

But you will need a good techer and lots of hard practice....good luck...its really all about unitary movement and transfering the energy from the ground up through your body and into your opponents face....or onto the bag or whatever....

Good Luck

Punching power is all in the hips, dude. Theres a reason little Asian guys like Bruce Lee can weigh 125 pounds and rock a heavy bag. I met a little Chinese Guy who knew Wing Chun Kung Fu and he hit harder than anyone I'd ever seen. He told me its all form and getting your hips into the hit. Getting your hit into it gets your weight behind it.

Proper punching power will come from your hips and body movment, not so much from your arms.
