ok well ive recently posted a thread about my unusually low sex drive for a 21 year old, and ive gotten some good feedback, now i need alittle help with my hair loss...id rather post here instead of a hair loss forum cuz im hoping no one is gonna market some stupid product, i mean this is pe site and the pe is in the form of natural pe, no pills or devices...for the most part haha, so i figured id get real peoples real advice and not some reply targeted to make money on some product cuz its a "hair loss" forum

anyway, im 21, my senior year in high school i woke up one morning and there was a section of my hair that was a lot shorter than the rest, it was about half an inch high, and it spanned from my leftside hair line back about 4 inches and about 3 inches wide, it stayed that way for a year!!! no growth in that one spot..it completely boggled my mind, all the other hair grew, this never fell out or grew, it just broke off and stayed that way.

after about a year of depression and no results and the rest of my hair starting to fall out i went to a dermatologist and he started me on a protien shampoo called daragen, and then eventually put me on propecia, well my hair started to grow, it wasnt as thick as before but close enough, and my hair wasnt falling out as much, didnt really grow back too much hair i lost but it helped me maintain....

i stopped using it after about half a year, cuz of price and sexual side effects...now im 21 and my hair is really starting to thin, ive been using hair genesis for the past 3 months, no resluts i still find like 12 strands of hair in my hand when i wash my hair, i used hair genesis cuz if you go to their website it compares them to all other leading hair loss treatments and it says they are the only ones that treat receding hairline and how even tho they are all natural they still meet some fda shit, and no sexual side effects...whatever

i dont even care if what i lost NEVER grows back, just something to help stop the current falling out, i also tried using rosemary essecntial oil but that doesnt seem to be working, the only thing that seemed to work was propecia but it had really bad sexual side effects, so idk what to do

1. i was thinking about just using rogaine and seeing how that works, i know it says it doesnt help receding hairline, which i dont understand why not, but my top is thinning too, so i wanted to try using that, and then one day maybe slowly getting off that and back on propecia, has anyone done that? using rogaine to grow some hair and then stopped using it and used propecia to maintain?

2. is there anything worth purchasing? im only thinking about rogaine and prop again cuz they are fda approved, im tired of using these stupid, "we have a patent, or we are all natural but meet fda requirements blah blah" bullshit products, none of that stuff seems to work, and they say you should use for like 6 months to a year but i dont want to waste all that time and money for something that dont work, so is there anything besides prop and rogaine that ACTUALLY works?

3 any other advice? im hoping the rogaine will work, but is it true that sometimes it makes your hair fall out first before regrowing?

Idk what to do!!! please help

There are so many things that can cause hair-loss!

1.Smoking
2.Thyroid problems
3.Congested liver and gall bladder
4.poor diet
5.too much sugar
6.too much caffeine
7.alcohol
8.too much sebeum buildup in the scalp
9.body is too acidic

These are just a few things that come to mind.....only you can say if any of these play a part in your lifestyle.

Go to a hair loss forum if you want good advice, and do a lot of searches. Nizoral, Minoxidil, Finasteride is considered the backbone of any hair loss regime. Nizoral is a shampoo, Minox is rogaine's active component, and finas is propecia (although you can get proscar, which is generic propecia, for cheaper). Like Girthius said, a healthy lifestyle is very important for fighting hair loss, but if you have male pattern baldness, you're going to go bald no matter how healthy you are unless you take a ton of drugs.

Don't pay any attention to the psychological rants of the men on those forums, though. There are a lot of bitter people in the world that want to drag you down.

Some of these need an elaboration:
1. Yes, smoking speeds up MPB
2. Yes, get a complete blood test at your physician to check for iron levels
3. See above about blood tests
4. Yes, poor diet can speed up MPB, starving yourself can cause massive sheds, so make sure you eat enough calories as well. However too many calories speeds up MPB.
5. Yes, too much sugar can speed up MPB
6. No, the consensus now is that caffeine actually helps hair growth
7. Most studies show no links between alcohol and MPB. One study I read showed alcohol sped up vertex thinning, but had no effect on frontal hairline. Way too much alcohol lowers test and DHT, and raises estrogen, which actually gives you better hair (but bitch tits, too)
8. The sebum link is being debated, but nizoral shampoo 2-3x a week kills sebum buildup just to be safe
9.I haven't studied pH theory yet, so I can't comment

In younger age if you have started hair fall then its better to join a doctor for help.Because its a primary and sensitive age which can generate more problems if it is never stopped.

Why is this sounding like spam yet no links.....I wonder.

My advice is to never wash your hair again. Rinse hair only with water as needed.

yes but some hair get greasy real quick and some dont..

I stopped doing 2 things when I was 18 and they both have served me well. I stopped both washing my face and washing my hair with anything but water. I have no wrinkles and a full head of hair. All of my acne stopped after I stopped using soap also.

These are the tips to prevent hair loss:

1. Wash the hair with Tender Coconut water every other day for weeks.

2. Add the paste of fresh Curry leaves to Shikakai powder and wash hair with this on a regular basis.

3. Wash hair with coconut milk

4. Dry some basil leaves and Margosa leaves. Add some Bay leaves and powder all 3 together. Add 1tspn of this powder to 50 ml. of water and apply for ½ an hour Wash

Fredric, please respond to this thread so I know you are a real person and not a bot! Your posts thus far seemed pretty canned. Let me know or I will delete your account.

I too suffer with this problem. I'm quite self conscious about it... luckily it seems to have levelled out over the last couple of years and I've been losing my hair since I was 21 (im 26 now).

I've tried rogaine with no significant effect. I've tried finasteride and like lefty I experienced a lack of sex drive while on it... sex is the most important thing to me - even my hair is secondary so, I stopped it.

I've done a ton of research over the years on realistic solutions and ways to combat this - there is only one real way to combat thinning that I've found - a technique called FUE.

As far as I've researched, hair will fall out due to the presence of a modified version of testosterone called DHT (which is why your sex drive alters when you take medication designed to prevent hair loss). The actual receptors at the base of the hair follicle that are responsive to DHT are only found in the areas associated with Male Pattern Baldness. Thats why old men will still have hair in areas outside this (usually at the back and the sides by the ear).

FUE involves literally cutting out a small section of your scalp around hair follicles that arent affected with MPB. They transplant the scalp section and hair follicle and effectively redistribute them to give a more even coverage of your hair.

The problem is, FUE is phobibitively expensive - £5,000 - £12,000 depending on the amount you need transferred to rebalance your hair.

This is however the only realistic solution I've so far come across. I might get this done in my early 30's if I can afford it.

i just had 1700 fue done 2 weeks ago, this is something i researched for two years before i undertook this procedure, you really have to do your homework

and be able to afford the best of the best doctors that are well known to give outstanding results. i advise you to go to the hairtransplant. network and learn

all you can before making any desicions. 1700 i had done is not alot, it will be enough to give me the results i want which is restoring my temples.

the only other thing is use is the new regaine 5% minoxil foam in a can, this is really good stuff, expensive though. you cant put a price on happiness

if you ask me. the foam stops any more hair loss and over time claims to re-grow hair, i'm skeptical about that. at the moment i'm going through

a kind of ugly duckling stage, where nearly all my transplanted hair has been lost, this is expected the follicle is what is important, thats in your sclap

and lies dormant now for about 3 months, then growth happens and will continuing growing at 1cm a month. free from the effects dht, that hair is ther for life,

timing is obviously the key to when you get a procedure like this done, no point chasing hair transplant all your life and you only get so many shots at this.

i myself had stopped losing any more hair was never in danger of going bald anyway, i just really wanted to get my temples sorted. i'm feeling very

happy about the decision i made, just need to play the waiting game now. also my scar is practically invisible the doctor really was the best, i kid you

not already on close inspection you cannot see a thing.

Do you mind if I ask how much 1700 cost you? I've heard reports that I'd likely have to pay around £8,000 to get mine done

the clinic i went to had a 6 month waiting list just for an appointment, i was fortunate enough after my consultation

to take an appointment for procedure on 2 days notice, otherwise it would have been another 6 month wait, i was

very pleased with this because as-well as getting ht done so quickly, they took a fair amount of cash off. the doctor

was inbetween seminars so had a spare day, feel very lucky. as for the cost. £3000.00 just to do the procedure,

and each graft cost £2. i paid for 1500 grafts and the other 200 grafts free because there was 200 spare on the

strip that was taken. and because i took the appointment on short notice i got £1000 knocked off my fee.

i cant stress this enough take time before making any decisions, and get the best doctor you can afford,

if you think your unhappy now imagine how you would feel if you get butchered by some money grabber.

Thanks for replying :) seems quite complicated. I did a small bit of research on bookings in the UK and I found that there were no labs in the UK that could do it - so I would probably have to 'take a holiday' to somewhere in greece to have the procedure done.

one of the best guys in the world, a field leader in this procedure is in the uk. trust me on that. please take my advice

and go to the hair transplant network, there is listed all the information you need, peoples experiences and diaries,

there is a list they have also that only the best physicians get on it for your area.
