After starting and then giving up on PE a bunch of times I have now decided to start again but this time I will only use the x40 as it will save time. I'm sure I can gain better with manual exercises along with the x40 but I know I will lose interest if I try anything more than 15 min a day. So after reading for a bit I understand that water retention is bad and that I should start slowly and not go too intense in the beginning. My question however is should I go max pressure and start with short time and increase the time over the next few weeks or should I go low pressure with max time and increase the pressure over the next few weeks?

For instance:
Week 1: 3 min max pressure
Week 2: 4 min max pressure
Week 3: 5 min max pressure
Week 4: 6 min max pressure
And so on...

Or:
Week 1: 15 min very low pressure
Week 2: 15 min little bit more pressure
Week 3: 15 min little bit more pressure

Basically is it about building up the time or the pressure that will help me avoid water retention?
 
I heard from king, and figi that if you just get conditioned to the bathmate you'll get less fluid. When I received my xtreme i went full autist, and still get fluid after some weeks. So I'm thinking lower pressures should help you better acclimate to it.

Yep. Don't go bananas on yourself right away. I don't know what your size is, but I used the herc at first and for the first year or so I would get crazy FR because I would pump as hard as I could. If you ask me, go up to a pressure you can handle for your first set without too much discomfort and keep building pressure ~2.5- 5mm with each additional set. Use the first one as a primer and increase in intensity after that. Kinda like your second description, but within workouts. 15 min in the tube is a long time for a newbie, so I'd suggest 5x5x3 or if you are super worried about FR you could just do some jelqs at 80-90% eq. My biggest fear from the FR hysteria is that men won't push themselves beyond their perceived limits. FR and discoloration are a natural part of pumping, that can be mitigated through proper warm ups and warm downs and increased intensity overtime. One secret I'll share with you to get rid of massive FR once you have it is erect
Massage. If you feel like you got way too much to handle and you wanna get rid of your donut fast, just get a heating pad warmed up on your dick for about 5 min, get yourself 100 and give yourself a hard and deep massage with lotion. Be sure to really work the whole thing over for about five min. After that warm back down and go about your bussiness.

Well I dont think I'm going to jelq since if I aim for too much time spent I will just quit after a while. However from what you said I guess I will try starting off with very low pressure and increasing slowly. More input is welcome of course. And since you mentioned it my size is 7.5x5.3

While I have this thread started can someone explain what causes fluid retention and exactly why its bad?

i always pump low and slow to keep the expansion healthy. also like figi said you can usually smooth it out a little bit if you do go hog wild

Good explanation. I have found, using many reference points, that at about 5 minutes men will start taking on water and this is why SRT dictates that immediately after the 5 minutes you go into 5 minutes of the SLowSquashJelq to equally distribute expansion and to keep water retention away. It may look really good to be fluid filled but it will do little more than stretch you skin. What we want to effect is the underlying tissue. Using the BathMate 5x5x3 routine in SRT will keep expansion huge and water retention down...there is good reason why SRT is the preferred workout, it works!
 
Thanks for the answers everyone. Its a shame I dont have the motivation to keep going with a 5x5x3 routine. I will try to do the 15 min bathmate sessions but start off at very low pressure and see what happens.

Let us know how that goes. The 5x5x3 routine is so simple, what is causing your lack of motivation?

It takes a lot of time in some cases. Even with just dry pumping it takes well over a half hour for me- sometimes even 45-60 min.

Well 5x5x3 means a minimum of 30 minutes and when you add in time to get the pump on plus lube for jelqing that gets closer to 40 minutes. Thats quite a lot of time and seeing as I'm not desperate to enlarge my penis its just not something I can manage to do for more than a couple of weeks. I've been down the PE road a few times and the same thing happens every time. After a while I just give up. If I saw noticable change during that time I would probably continue but PE is a long road as many have described. So right now my goal is to get into a fairly short and doable routine that I complete every day and keep going with it for the long run. While I probably wont gain as much as I could have with a more intense routine I think it is better to gain a little rather than not at all because I give up.

Been thinking about it over the weekend and I think perhaps I can do one set of 10 min x40 and then 10 min jelq for a total of 20 min work time. Thats not too much more time and should help avoid fluid retention if you guys are correct. I am only going for girth btw.

lol, I was just going to suggest this after I read your first paragraph:) I think this is a smart move and it would save you a bit of time too.

Yeah I will start it later today. Start with 5x5 and then add 1 minute every other day or so until I reach 10x10 when I can just increase intensity. If I can manage to keep doing this for a year or so it will be interesting to see if I gain and if so how much. If I make solid gains from such a minimalistic routine that would be a good sign for all those interested in getting started I think.

Actually I mean once. 10 min in the bathmate and 10 min jelq. Total of 20 min. I did my first session of one set of 5 by 5 yesterday. Went great. My cock was nice and plump after so I take it alls good. Will keep increasing the time until I reach 10 min on both.

Got you. I think this is a much smarter approach and I think you will find much greater tissue expansion with much less retention.
