Thanks that was a good read. The reason you can't edit posts is because you are under 25 posts or something like it. Once you can edit them you only have a 10min window to do it. If its anything of an issue you can ask a mod to fix something in a thread if it going to complicate your post.
 
That was one of the reasons I decided to do it as soon as I thought about it :)
