If you want truly high quality video and photo you need to get a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex). There's a reason the pros don't use their cell phones. With a DSLR you can swap out lenses, have a variety F Stop settings, better shutter speed control, etc. For the average person it's not really necessary. For the amateur to pro photographer it's a must.
Years ago I was on a forum where 1 of the guys was a ���� camera guy and occasional performer. He was using high quality Canon cameras for HD ����. At the time, 10+ years ago, you were talking $3k per camera with the extra lenses needed. If you really wanted to dabble I'm sure you could find a used one to start with that will shoot studio portrait quality.
