Is the abdomenal six-pack detrimental to size?

Guys,

We all know it's well-established that a person carrying around a considerable amount of excess fat in the abdomen is going to lose penis length. I have been on a venture to lose this fat and get in better shape. Do you think hardcore training of the abdomenal muscles could result in a size loss as well? After all, increasing the size of the abdomenal muscles will increase waist size a little, all things being equal. Do you suppose that a massive set of abdomenal muscles will pull and stress the body in a way that might promote retracting of the penis?

What exercises are you using to target this i would like to have no fat pad at all although it isnt very big anyway and better abs i would like to know some good exercises for this

I don't think that increasing the abs would shrink your penis size. Fat around your waist is worse than the good abs. Getting the good abs and cutting down that fat pad will make you look bigger. So get on the floor and do the sets.

I do a lot of isometric standing crunches, with deep breathing. On occasion, I'll incorporate some v-ups and some standing tucks. Lately, as I've switched from a calistenic routine to a wieght routine, I've pretty much just been doing some cable crunches and reverse work with a dips bar. For a period of time, I went nuts on the abs, but the new program treats them like a smaller muscle group.

I know that the abs need to be worked like any other muscle group, but I read, an article that said: " The abs are made in the kitchen"! You can work your ass off making the abs extremely muscular, and getting them strong, but until you modify your diet, you will never get the 6pack effect. A good exerciser program, with a good diet, will expose the 6pack. Also, from what I read from this article, you do not work the abs everyday, but say 3-4 times a week. The DIET is the key point though!

I can't imagine myself with a six-pack...the thought just makes me chuckle:D

Yeah yeah...we all know about your perfect abs...grrr.

:D

I'm working on mine now too...actually I'm starting to do a lot of bodyweight-only strength training. You can get SO freaking strong by doing this. I used to be ultra strong when I was a gymnast. I mean like I could hold myself straight out from a pole with my arms fully extended. I could bench press my coach...who was a lot bigger than me. Not anymore, but I'm working on it!

Bodyweight exercises are some good stuff. I am only working with weights right now, because I have some bad joint problems. Bodyweight movements tend to be more compound and work through a broad range of motion, which irritates my shoulder and my knees are always in pain.

Are you following any specific program or fitness gurus?

Ever tried Velvet Deer Antler? This is what the Russian power lifters, and other athletes use. It's supposed to help with the joints, and help with muscle growth. It's a natural steroid, I think. It also boost your sex drive.

Nah just stuff I remember doing when I was a gymnast. I posted the main exercises I do in the "Ok, training and diet info???" thread. Nothing spectacular, but it's stuff I know will work well.

No, I haven't. Interesting. Do you have any good links with more info on this stuff?

I just PMed you with stuff to check out. This stuff doesn't appeal to most people, but you can understand the value, having been a gymnast.

My diet is shitty as hell, all junk food and stuff. But this is basically the routine I used to get my abs.

Top/Mid Abdomen:
4x50 Sit-ups - Every other day, or every two days.

Lower/Mid Abdomen:
4x50 Leg Lifts - Every other day, or every two days.

Edit:

Originally had a pic posted, but I removed it.

You CAN´T do 50 sit-ups if you do it right.....

More than 3 times a week is bad...

C YA!

I have been trying to do crunches once per day. I do 60 total>>20 to the left, 20 to the right and 20 straight on. Is this ok?

I think for health or for fitness it´s ok.... But if you want to build real muscles you should work your abs 2 times a week (not more than 3 times a week!!)
Your repetition should be between 10- (MAX!!) 20! At the beginning you don´t need more than 4 sets.... Do them VEEEEEEEEEEERY slow and concentrated! And another very good tip: DON´T raise your upper body with a stiff back!! Try to roll in! It should be a round movement! And never swing!!! For any questions about the abs.... ask me... ;)

GREAT site girthius!

C YA!
