Good video. And not once did he say to FAST. He talked about upping your protein intake , getting good sleep and not over training. Nothing to do with fasting and building muscle. Like i been saying eat clean and work the body part your not happy with, wich is this guys fat pad. Core and lower ab work with inner thigh work. That will help him more then starving or lipo ever will. And i shouldn't just say hit the inner thighs because you should hit the whole leg but the inner thigh helps loose and tighten up the fat pad. And bro i really dont want to argue over this either. A few of you have a different view then i and thats fine. But there are also folks out there who believe if they eat what they want they can puke it up latter to loose weight or take xlacks..i like i said before if your happy with the results your getting from what your doing then good for you..all i know is that im 46 years old and still box and i am cut up. And I have night crawler veins. Not to bad for being old..i eat clean and work out hard. My coach push's me harder now that im old then he has when i was younger. Good fuel (food) and hard work pays off. Fasting is a easy way to loose weight and never a good idea or safe method..and most that run diets like that in the end gain it back..PEACE!! we just have different veiws lets leave it at that. Were here not to fight each other but help. PEACE!!

Yeah but fasting is technically a caloric deficit because you're fuller in shorter amount of time if you eat the same as you always do meaning less calories. And yes protein in take is very important when trying to gain muscle. I don't understand why you're still trying to attack me I just wanted to share this video with you and I never even referenced fasting with the video so I don't know why you even bring that back.

Abstaining from eating or sleeping. You do that in your sleep. Unless you guys eat in your sleep.

Kyomoto that is not called fasting..Lol..how old are you?

I guess you're going to resort to an age to identify me as someone who is not knowledgeable when you don't even know the definition of fasting. Google is very helpful. Helps you become literate. You should try it some time.

Right but to abstain from eating is when you don't eat when you otherwise would have. You dont abstain from eating while you sleep. Otherwise every waking second in which you are not putting food in your mouth you are fasting. Then the word looses its meaning.

That counts too. The time you dont eat even if you're awake you're fasting or digesting. It's a term that is loosely used but I always try to go by what its defined as to make things more understandable. People will tend to use words in different meanings and ways which is fine but you have to first define what the word means to you before using it. I know I didn't but now you guys understand i try to go by actual definition most of the time

Well look up the actual definition of abstain. It is a concious effort to not do something.

If you dont eat cause you are not hungry, you are not abstaining from eating. Cause there isn't a need or desire to abstain against.

Well then thats where you start questioning a lot more. You're right about abstaining. But how do you know if you're not consciously making the decision to sleep instead of eat?

See but thats different. If you are hungry and you are tired. And you choose to abstain from eating because u dont want to go out or cook or whatever. You made a concious descision to not eat over sleeping, but the hunger was there. Where as if you eat a hamburger and you are no longer hungry just because you dont go eat another hamburger doesnt mean you are abstaining from eating, the desire or need is no longer there.

Where as if you become hungry while sleeping you dont have the ability to make a conscious choice to go grab a bite to eat.

Just like you wouldnt say a 5 year old is celibate. His desire for sex is not there in the first place for him to refrain from.

I like this conversation. Makes me question much of how even what we refer to proper definitions to use terms that don't necessarily provide enough information.

Big difference. Fasting is a self imposed act to show love for the Lord and to help increase the power of prayer. Not eating when you sleep is not fasting in anyway unless it is for a blood test in the morning. The entire reason Christians fast is to get closer to God and give more poignancy to their prayers. I fast for religious reasons and even if I were to lose muscle due to this, I would still do it because of the spiritual benefits. But I do not lose muscle, I retain it or it increases. Maybe GOD is the one keeping my muscle up during my fasting over the last 8 years.

I think fasting takes on a different meaning for many. Religious reasons are on one why I fast but there are so many other reasons to fast like detoxing the body, preparing for blood tests, etc. Fasting also does not mean only food, you can fast from anything. I fast from TV & food because this brings me to a place of worship I feel worthy of our Lord. The idea behind fasting in this way is to feel a lack and fill that lack with prayer. Fasting can also be charity, or giving until it hurts. There are so many ways to do this and the reasons are many also.

Yes thats what fasting is to you and many people but when i look to define i look to see what it actually says. And from there it can branch out to many ideas

Exactly. Fasting can take many form as far as food is concerned. You can go on a juice fast for up to a week. You can fast as I do, one meal after dark. Your can fast by skipping one meal a day. You can also fast from certain foods. The reasons for this are many. Fasting also occurs with things that do not pertain to food.

And only some people with agree with each other on what defines what because even when there's the supposed meanings, there will always be variants. So I guess it's time to define when you use a word thats accused of something else so the audience can understand your statements or assertions.

Very true. In the religious sense there are many ways to fast, one being better than the next depending on what your plans are. Outside of religion that same thing applies. For the most part I think many people fast for detoxification and even to kick start weight loss. Whatever the fast is there always needs to be a positive replacement.

I guess some folks interpret the word fasting different then others. When one tells me there fasting that tells me there not eating for a x amount of days. Not one meal a day. If thats the case i guess we all fast everyday. dld, didnt you say your Italian? If so are you not roman Catholic?

It depends on the person. Sorry for not clarifying my definition of the word until at a later time.

Of course I am Roman Catholic.
