After thinking about it I guess it does make sense length would be a different animal. With girth you can kind of run with indiscriminate smashing and make serious gains. Length really seems to require some finesse and patience. Although if I could just yank the sucker out that'd be great.
I know you said you have problems with traditional compression hangers, but I think if you tried out some vac hangers you could really make progress. For some people, including myself, length takes a lot of force applied over a lot of time.
