I think there needs to be Teflon (or similar material) "sleeves" in all the drilled holes. Sometimes the threads catch the wood and makes it hard to separate the pieces. It would make it faster and easier to unclamp as long as the ends are smoothed and rounded, almost flared on the ends.
Just a new user's opinion. In leiu of that I may try to find some bolts that don't have threads on the nut end for about 1.5" but it might be a challenge to find the exact right ones. They need that square to catch properly or else I'll need wrenches to clamp in
