Its been awhile since I've posted but I think I've got a problem with my hanging technique again. I have messed with it day in and day out to get it to grip and not slip and I finally did it a couple months ago. However, I am having to tighten the top wing nut with an adjustable wrench until it starts to get a little difficult to turn it with the wrench. IOW, tight enough to where there is no way I can move it with my fingers. I hear that this is bad and it should only be finger tight but I simply can't get it to grip well without the wrench.

I get a little numbness after my sets each night but that has always happened, even before using the wrench. I know that I'm not hurting myself because I can still get erect and function normally with very minimal soreness. I don't feel any pain or discomfort during my sets either and the grip is very solid.

My problem is that I keep either stripping the top bolt to where it won't tighten anymore or worse, stripping the hole around where the hex nut sits on the left side, causing the nut to spin freely. This way I can't tighten it. I wasn't worried about it because I can buy a new top bolt at my local hardware store for like $2.00 for the whole set-up but tonight I stripped that hole where the hex nut sits. The only way to fix this would be to get new halves for my hanger. I'll get in touch with Bib about purchasing new halves in a little bit but has this happened to any of you? Do you have to tighten the shit out of it in order to prevent slipping?

Shit, I forgot about that. I think Bib was helping you out with that back when I was having my first problems. Did you ever get it worked out? If so, please point me to your threads about it so that maybe I can fix the problem faster. Thanks,
Gomer

Thanks a lot, [words=http://www.mattersofsize.com/join-now.html]PA[/words], I'll start reading those threads now. I watched the hanging tutorial also but I'll watch it again. I tried tightening the hanger again last night and that hex nut didn't rotate this time so maybe I didn't have it seated in the hole correctly when it was rotating. I may still order some new halves though, that way there will be no down-time if and when it does round out.

Gomer,

It sounds as if you do not have quite enough top gap, to tighen as much as you need. If you are having to use a wrench to tighten, and not just your fingers, I would say you are tightening the two halves against each other, rather than further compressing your shaft. You might try adjusting the bottom hex nuts in a quarter to a half turn each.

For the left side hex nut seat, you might try some JB weld. It will take about 15 hours to cure. So apply it after your last set of the day, and the next day, it should be ready to go. Put some vasoline on the hex nut (so the mixture will not stick to the hardware), then put the mixed JB Weld in the hole, then push the hex nut (on the bolt) into the JB Weld to form the seat.

Thanks Bib, I may try that if the problem persists. The check is in the mail for the new halves also, just in case I can't continue to work with the ones I have now. When I get home I'll start working on my adjustments again.

I did as you suggested and took the bottom nuts out a little bit. I also replaced the top bolt, hex nut, washer, and wing nut to allow for smoother tightening. When I attached the hanger I attached it the same way I always do except I seated it closer to the glans. The result was a full 20 minute session, straight out, at 18 pounds with no numbness or discomfort, and easily adjustable tightness with my fingers. Hopefully my success will continue but I still want those halves just in case. Thanks again guys, I don't know what I would do without your help.

P.S. I don't have my camera here with me but SWM's pics in his sticky in this forum are very close to what my set-up looks like when hanging except he is pulling more skin forward around the base of the glans than I am. Other than that it looks pretty much the same.

Gomer,

>I did as you suggested and took the bottom nuts out a little bit.<

I assume you mean in a bit?

Congrats on the success.

I seem to have spoken too soon about getting it right. I didn't change anything from yesterday to today and after about 13 minutes into my 3rd set I started getting extreme slippage again. I tried turning the bottom nuts in (sorry, I misread your post) and I still get slipping. I know that your Bib Starter model is made for almost any penis size but what about minimum size requirements? Completely flaccid I am 4 1/4" long NBP without stretching it and 4 1/4" girth without squeezing. Am I too small for this thing? It just seems like you, SWM, and a lot of others are easily making good gains and hardly ever have issues with their hangers. I watched SWM's hanging video and it seems so easy for him and I think it is because of his much larger flaccid size.

Oh well, I'm going to keep messing with it because I don't like to give up but it is very discouraging to see so many guys having little or no problems and making good gains when I have experienced the opposite. I have made gains though so I guess that is a bright side to it.

Well, maybe some good news now. I tried toeing in a little and the front-bottom nut is all the way in and the rear-bottom nut is out 2 turns. I wrapped as usual and tightened the top nut down about 10 turns at about mid shaft and slid the hanger forward. It felt like it seated just below the head like it used to so I straightened the head out and tightened enough to hang weight. I am 6 minutes into a 15 pound set as I type this and I haven't see/felt slipping so far. Hopefully this will keep up but we'll see.

To anyone else that has had problems, try to think outside the box a little and experiment with things that you DON'T think will work. For instance, with me and my small flaccid size, the hanger settings right out of the box is what works for me. The bottom adjustment nuts are all the way in now and it has never gripped this well before. I just assumed that you HAD to move the bottom adjustment nuts out to get the correct setting because of what I read on Bib's site. My flaccid girth is 4 1/4" so that is what works for me. Anyway, make adjustments based on your particular situation, not what everyone else is doing because they may have a much larger flaccid size than you do. Thanks for the suggestion Bib, I just didn't realize that I'd have to move the nuts all the way in.

Gomer,

BTW, your new halves are on the way.

It is all relative. Just try to have the proper attachment, small top gap, teeth meshed a good bit, etc. Also, the amount of wrap you use makes a difference. That is why I always refer to WFG, wrapped flaccid girth. If you use a loose, jersey material underwrap, you would need to let the bottom adjustments out a good bit.

And you are correct, never be afraid to experiment.

Thanks. yeah, wrap is another thing because I use very little. I use an 8" long by 2" wide strip of [words=http://www.mattersofsize.com/forum/showthread.php?44-Ace-Strapped-Jims-Joint]ace bandage[/words] which covers enough to where my 12" by 2" theraband sits on the [words=http://www.mattersofsize.com/forum/showthread.php?44-Ace-Strapped-Jims-Joint]ace bandage[/words] instead of my skin. I have found that this provides the best grip for me. For reference, the [words=http://www.mattersofsize.com/forum/showthread.php?44-Ace-Strapped-Jims-Joint]ace[/words] wraps around about 3 times and the theraband wraps around about 4-5 times, depending on how flaccid I am. So some of the theraband is in front and behind the hanger but it doesn't cause any discomfort.

Yeah but it pinches the hell out of my skin. Thats why I use a bandage underwrap so that I can use the theraband on top and it works like a charm. I've been hanging 2 hours per day at 18 pounds last week and 19 pounds this week and this is the first time I've ever felt fatigue from hanging straight out. I get a little numbness every now and then but it goes away within an hour. I think I'm finally on my way to getting gains, I'm just glad I'm not any smaller than I am or hanging might not work unless I could get it to work with more wrap because the bottom nuts are all the way in.

Gomer,

That sounds good. Have you determined SO is going to be your most effective angle for now? With what rational did you arrive at SO?

Bigger

Well, I was fixing to post a new thread about this very topic. My LOT is right at 7:00 so I thought that straight out would give me the best gains for now. BUT, I can't count the number of times I've also heard this from members here: "I tried (SO, OTS, etc.) but never gained anything. Once I started hanging straight down or BTC I gained 1/4" the first month." Do you guys think I should just use a straight down angle and not worry about LOT? I did 1 hour of straight down last Friday at 19 pounds and my ligs were pretty fatigued the next morning.

Cool, it seems like the only gains I've made have been straight down so far. I have been hanging straight out for a few weeks now and I'll keep doing it until the 25th. Then I'll measure again and if there are no gains I'll go back to straight down.
