whey protein concentrate or isolate?

It's a no-brainer for me... i'm lactose intolerant and concentrate contains too much lactose so i have to go with isolate.

I'm also a big fan of isolate. My favorite such product is "Zero Carb Isopure". Comes in many great flavors, and mixes without a blender. I still prefer to mix it in a blender though because I dress up my shakes with fruit and such. If you shop around online, you can find great deals on the stuff. I usually go through 6-7 tubs of it monthly (I'm a growing boy!), and pay less than $200 for it shipped. For Jebus sakes, don't buy it at GNC! LOL. They charge full MSRP, and even on "gold card" days, or weeks you still pay too much.

If you want max performance out of protein you have to mix the 3 basic types at once for a consistant release of aminos into your system. I never noticed a diff between isolate and whey other than the price and i took them religiously for over 2 years

Well if you want the best results and also save money then eat a can of tuna instead of a scoop of protein. Seriously natural sources of protein have yielded better results for me than supplemented protein when using the same workout regimen. Also per gram of protein it is cheaper than the whey I get from GNC on the sale days. Supplemental protein should be seen as supplemental not primary; having said that it does have its place. Also with less whey in my diet the farting has decreased exponentially.

^ Actually studies have shown individuals with healthy kidneys have little to worry about regarding kidney damage and its the ones already with unhealthy kidney damage who are at risk. The dangers of high protein diets and protein supplementation are overstated.

Check the study by Poortmans JR and Dellalieux O ''Do regular high protein diets have potential health risks on kidney function in athletes'' International Journal of sports nutrition and exercise metabolism 10: 28-38 published 2000.

Lots and lots of egg whites, lots of fish and beef...This is what gave me the best gains in the gym.
