quit alcohol and gained fat!

For the past 5 weeks I have not had an alcoholic drink. I would drink moderately everyday for 10 years and more on the weekends. Since I have stopped drinking and replaced the habit with pints of water My stomach has turned from pretty solid to more flabby over the last 2 weeks.

I am eating the same with the same gym routine. Is it all the toxins coming out my system and the body adjusting or reacting from not having the alcohol?
 
Who knows dude not the best place to ask, my guess would be that your eating more as compared to when you were drinking.
 
Ive recently quit alcohol *again* after my 2-3week xmas/new yr binge... Im finding that cus im not drinking im getting bored easier, thus im comfort eating.
keep a track of what you eat each day. Make weight targets weekly. I try to drop 3lbs a week when dieting / cutting down. I find its the best way to keep a positive mind state and to think twice before snacking on crap. :)
 
I have a strict diet that includes no junk food, as I say the diet has not changed at all so am not eating more, just cut out alcohol by itself which is less calories.
 
well your not gaining weight for no reason dude you need to sit down write down everything youve been eating as well as your workouts somethings different. were you drunk going to the gym?
 
Alcohol dehydrates you thats why you were like that .Now that you stopped normality has returned.Just train more.
 
It's a metabolism thing dude, the alcohol raises your metabolism so you spend more energy than normal for many hours after the intake, it also dehidrates you and keeps you in a water deprived state and makes you pee a lot more than you need too due to the cells trying to get rid of all the extra glucose in the alcohol, yes, alcohol gets metabolized inside you into sugar and that translates into more runs to the WC to pee.

You are now running on a slower metabilism and can't get rid of extra calories ( the ones being burned by alcohol induced raised metabolism ) as easily.

Drink gallons of water spaced out through the day, everyday, that will help get rid of toxins in your liver and kidneys and clean you right up. The more water you drink the more you will NOT retain because the body adapts to constant water influx and stops
thinking its going to run out of water. Same goes for food, if you eat LESS but you eat MORE TIMES A DAY the body forgets about the possibility of starvation which is what causes people to gain fat ( fat are energy reserves for when the cavemen can't find food and must survive on those stores ).

Continue added water intake, add cardio about 1 hour day 3 times week.

This seems strange because Alchohol promotes female hormones = Less testosterone = Less fat burning.

Anyone else who has a comment about this?
