I jelq at very high erection level and my grip (okay) is tight and hard and slow. Pushing that blood to the glans. Swells the glans up and really increases the girth. GS
 
i also jelq at full erection. love it bro. works wonders for me in terms of girth and erection strength and health. i grip as hard and as long as i can with each jelq. i do like 1 min plus jelq holds at full erection.
 
I used to jelq at 100%, but then I discovered that jelqing hard at a low level erection had enormous benefits. After just a few days of doing them for about 10-15 minutes before my girth routine I started to get rock hard erections- to the point of being painful. My morning woods are intense. Like i said, I do them now to just strengthen my cock and do other excercises to work girth- ulis/clamping. This is what works best for me and I suggest giving it a go.
