All day clamp is correct. I have never done this but I do know it is done as close to erect as possible. I would think it would start out as an erect clamping but would subside to a semi during the exercise.
 
Just thought I would throw in my 2c. I have been playing around with a safe method to ADC a while now. I first started putting on a cable clamp after workouts in 20 min sets but it seemed prone to discoloration and became a unefficient to keep taking it off and get circulation. For me the best method was to find a good cock ring, I'm on my third now and its perfect. after a Bathmate set I will pop it on, it does not completely cut off circulation so the pump does get smaller but it slows it down enough (takes around 3hrs to return to normal). I can wear it for 3hrs without no coldness/numbness/discoloration. It's also made of jelly like material so it has a good stretching capacity in-case I get an erect or anything. It's been perfect so far for 'ADC' but by that I mean I wear it for 5hrs a day with a break in between.
