At the moment i am more or less doing DLD's newbie stretch routine (although i usually can't fit the whole routine into one day), and i tend to find that although all the ligaments are gently stretched, I never really get that feeling of ligament fatigue, the sort of feeling you get when you know you've done a good stretching session. The only time i get that feeling is if I do a lot of stretches in the same direction, so that just 1 or 2 ligs are being continually targeted.

I've been wondering just how important it is to fatigue the ligaments each day. If it is essential for good gains then surely a better routine would be to stretch in just one direction each day. So, for example, you might do one stretch continuously on monday eg. btc left, and then do lots of a diferent stretch eg. straight down, on tuesday and just keep changing the stretch each day.

So (considering that a person may not have enough time to fatigue all the ligaments in a day), my question is, which is the more efficient routine:

20 mins a day stretching in all directions
or
20 mins a day stretching in one direction, but changing the direction of the stretch from day to day?

I would think it would have the same effect. It is good if you can make your ligs really sore, but if you don't have enough time to do this every day then just putting the ligaments under constant strain from day to day will be effective even if it isn't as effective as completely wasting the ligs.

what about a session of 20 mins of cranks that leaves my ligs really sore followed by five mins of str8 outs

When I stretched from behind my glans, I stretched mainly down for 15 minutes and out for 15 minutes. Occasionally made a few stretches to the sides, out and down. Hardly any straight back at all. Over 6 months I gained 3/4 EL. I would also say, I didn't feel fatiqued half the time. I did when I really pushed the limits of the stretch, but due to blood blisters, I didn't push it that hard often. Be sure to warm up and down. I used heat even between stretches. I pretty much had to, b/c my donk likes to tighten up too fast.
