Hey,

I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of rubber the Bathmates use. Or if the X-40 and X-40 use a different kind then the X series.
Someone told me i should be careful with rubber and hot water.

/bump Nobody cares about this? I know the Penomet had their gaiters tested and certified and all that.. i'm thinking about switching.. if the Bathmate's rubber is dissolving or bad for your skin..

I dont know what rubber the Bathmate uses.

I am a mechanic and I do know that some plastic and rubber in cars if they got set on fire the plastic and rubber (cant remember the type now) can kill you.

there is some thing in the rubber/plastic that penetrates the skin and its highly toxic but only if its been set on fire.

I will do some more research its been 16 years since I learnt all this

Awesome. All we need is the type of rubber i guess..

I will get the official information from Dave from Penomet but there is a very big difference between the two rubbers used, Penomet used a special rubber that was certified and there is a post somewhere to the effect. I will ask Dave to post a thread with specifics on both pumps.

Thanks DLD, i remember Dave posting how they got it certified. Also they use silicone right, so that's allready allot more save i think. I'm just curious you know.. having this thing in the bath with me.. if it starts breaking down.. might be bad for my health/skin.

Not at all, according to Dave there are no risks that are usually associated with rubber...they did some serious work in getting approval for medical to make this happen.

Yeah Penomet uses silicone as per its ads. Ive been using the X-40 for a while and have no issues, about to get an x40 as the Gaiter on the Herc will not allow me to get more girth.
Oh BTW the Penomet is RoHS compliant. http://www.rohscompliancedefinition.com/rohs-compliance-faq.html so really every european mfg. that sells electrical equipment has to be compliant as this is not something just for consumer goods and if so then being that the Bathmate's are manufactured in the UK they too would have to comply with the same standards.
One reason Im going with the X40. I dont feel as if Im being lied to and Bathmate never uses or bashes another Company to try and make sales. Here maybe they can take a lesson here! http://massagetherapyworld.com/2010/07/never-badmouth-competition/
Just my $.02 :D Ill stick with the guys that have good ethical business practices and not a lot of foolery!
