When I started pe and especially when i started hanging I kept reading all the posts about fatigue. I wasn't experiencing it no matter what i did. After a pm with the hang master Bib he told me to do a shock routine. I added about 5 pounds more than was normal for me. I only did this for the first half of the first set for that day.

I went back to my usual weight , added a pound then continued for the day. I experiences fatigue for the first time.

Fatigue is not a mystical experience that i was looking for. It simply was a feeling like i had done a good workout. The sensation was that i absolutely could not hang another set without dropping some of the weight.

For almost a week now I have been in constant fatigue.I do a good hang session at night. The amount of weight it totally irrelevant tho it was high for me. I only hung a couple sets with high weight then continually started dropping poundage for the duration of the routine. Man what a workout.

The next morning the ligs were still cussing in languages i never heard before. The stressed feeling was felt almost to the navel area. There was no way to hang any that morning, so I did various stretches ALL during the day.I wanted to maintain a level of fatigue to be ready for the night hang session.

It worked, when i tried to hang i could only hang about half of my normal weight. Eight and a half pounds were killer in this fatigued state. I've been doing the lighter weight for a few days now with a better stretch than when i was hanging 19.5 pounds.

I'll say it again. THE AMOUNT OF WEIGHT YOU HANG IS IRRELEVANT. Just get to fatigue via weight or manual pe then hang in the fatigued state for an awesome workout.
 
I like to hang 10/15 lb's in one go as it gets me to fatigue quicker than lower weights....thats all that high weghts have to offer = quicker fatige time but its more risky.
 
I don't know the answer to this but there is some difference in the actual weight when hanging via a pulley or some other arrangement. Weight changes when it goes through a pulley or set of pulleys. In over the shoulder and other configurations you have to adjust something. Some of you guys out there that are engineers, can you give me/us an answer to this? I have been doing some up hanging but it is not the same weight, even if I am using the same weight. I know it is not the same, it does not feel the same. GS

I'm no engineer but I'll second you on this. It only makes sense that when the tension you experience is not direct - like in BTC or SD hanging - the weight becomes slightly compromised.
I've found that the only way to compensate for this other than adding more weight is to ensure that both the pulley and the type of cord I use are made of as smooth a material possible.

Braided ropes made of cotton are probably the worst culprits - not only due to their rough texture, but the natural makeup of the fiber has room to give, stretch, and even stick to the pulley.
Solid cord made of nylon works well as can heavy test fishing line. Though, because of the extremely thin nature of fishing line it can sometimes be difficult to handle when weight is applied.
Also, the visual pun of your trout choking on the end of a spool of fishing line makes it a challenge to hang without giggling.

WHen I was hanging a couple months back it would take several sets of 19-21 pound sets to reach fatigue.
Now I get fatigue at 11 pounds better than previously at 20 pounds. WEIGHT IS IRREVELANT.
 
Supra I have no idea why the fatigue is coming earlier now than before. I hang just like everyone else. Could be all the fast growth from last year combined with a couple months break. I can tell ya for certain that my length gains were not cemented for sure. I lost about a half an inch in about 3 months. This probably plays a role in the fatigue..Dunno. My goal is to get to 7 1/2 bp by 6-1-04.

Unfortunately yes, I have recently taken a 3 month break from hanging. With a family member living here with terminal cancer and working too many hours there is simply not enough hours in a day to find the time to hang.

I was inquiring b/c I thought that a break would cause your fatigue to heal/leave. Did that happen? Or were you still lowering your weight after you came back? Or are you still on break? ?:(
 
I dont know that I agree with the "Weight is irrelevant" idea. I mean, it requires a certain level of weight to reach fatigue. Depending on how much hanging experience you have, you will need less or more weight to reach fatigue. Sure, anyone can theoretically hit fatigue if a given weight level is used for a long enough of a time....but who has the weeks that it may take to hit fatigue at say....oh, 5lbs?

Xulf, to try and answer your question from my experience, whenever I have taken an extended break from hanging....a couple weeks off or more, my resistance to fatigue has always gone back up. In other words, my first day of hanging again, I may not get any fatigue.
 
Xulf thanks man. I hang now when I can which is about 2-3 days a week. Yes the fatigue is still coming at the lower weights. In fact I just put the hanger on with 13 1/2 pounds of weight. I can already tell that I will have to drop weight probably before the end of the next set. I am doing very intense stretchs all during the day to help keep the fatigue feeling. I do NOT have the luxury of 2-3 hours a night to reach fatigue. For those that do... go for it.
