Thoughts on Cycling and Penis Health

I've read numerous times that cycling causes problems with erection quality. One of my buddies raced semi pro for 20 years. He's 44 now and is experiencing issues with ED. As someone who likes cycling this is a bit concerning. It's so much fun but there's an obvious risk factor connected to the activity. Since I've been starting to work out again I've decided to stick to running and bodyweight workouts instead. I like running but prefer cycling.

My family GP is someone who believes wholeheartedly that riding regularly is a principle reason for him seeing cases of impotence in men in their 30s 40s and 50s where other heath reasons had been ruled out. I've also spoken to a female Urologist who dated by friend. She more or less confirmed what my GP had told me.

I know I can't post links but there's a YouTube video taken from a British chatshow. In the video, UK tv doctor talks about cycling and erection quality. The videos called "Davina McCall & Dr Christian Jessen - Alan Carr - 10/10/2014'. At around 3:20 he talks about cycling.

Thoughts and experiences would be appreciated.

Wow, I need to find a thread for you that is perfect for you. Same exact situation. Very long time ago so it may take me a few to find it but I will put the link here when I do.

There are many saddles out there now, like the Adamo, that are designed to stop penile issues. Look into split saddles if you are worried, do some research bud.

The new seats do help to a degree. Riders still complain of numbness though. I've researched it. I only wanted to know other's opinion's Bud

I am cycling for many years, mostly on Hardtail. I had custom saddles like the SQ Lab 610 but also lot's of cheap ones. Never had a problem. I never felt any numbness. Nowadays I wear a cock ring from time to time because it keeps my scrotum out of the way. My legs are very big and there isn't that much space. I used the [words=http://www.phallosan.com/shop/catalog/default.php?z=eNortjIxtVKyL0pNszWxMFcrSSxKTy2JL0hMT7U1UisoykyxtbBQSy4tLsnPjS8uKcrMS7dVsgZcMMpbEbo%2C]Phallosan[/words] on the bike but I will hit my belly once the legs goes up.

My pants come from Assos and they have quite a lot of cushion.

As far as I understood these penis problems are an old myth which was created by outsiders of the sport.

You might aswell also consider positive effects of cycling.

Thanks mate. I think the problem mostly arises from road bikes. Your right that there's lots of positive benefits of cycling.

I have tried different seats and shorts. Occasionally I still get a bit of numbness in the area located when you perform a kegel. I've read this vein becomes flattened over time.
I tried different ways of sitting and chatted to friends about how they sit. I think it's maybe just my body.

In the video mentioned in the opening post. The Doctor describes the possible dangers.

In case you feel something it should be a problem. The impression I got back in the days was that bike magazines liked to have this topic in their repertoire because they didn't have too much to talk about. The advancement that has been made in terms of saddles was the idea that you are supposed to sit on pelvic bones, not so much on muscles. Type YT "SQlab The sit bone measurement".

This video about Alan Carr is taken from a very unserious context so I won't accept that as a reference.

Awesome that you got some great responses, I still have not found the thread I was talking about but hopefully this thread will be a great help.

Thanks. I appreciate all the replies. Very helpful .

I am happy you got so much help!

Chafing was my problem... but there is a [words=https://shop.mattersofsize.com/products/sizegenetics-penis-extender]penis health[/words] creme available called Man1 Man Oil that treats all sorts of skin issues down there. You should check it out.. it is full of vitamins and proteins that heal up the skin very nicely. Hope this helps.

Anything in excess is bad for you. Cyclling/Spinning is no different. Saddle is the single most important decision in it next to sizing your frame right and then positioning said saddle. Ive done an M-Dot and trained insanely for it, done numerous century rides, etc. I was a victim of "numb nutz" until i got the aforementoined things in line as well as some good cycling shorts.

Look into the Adamo racing saddle series. Yes i know they want some coin for them but i bit the bullet, worth every penny and no numbness again after i was using that.

So ive been using the [words=https://shop.mattersofsize.com/products/sizegenetics-penis-extender]extender[/words] for about a week and so far so good just as a test I used it to hang to see the weight it can hold I use 5lbs and I stopped I'm sure the [words=http://www.phallosan.com/shop/catalog/default.php?z=eNortjIxtVKyL0pNszWxMFcrSSxKTy2JL0hMT7U1UisoykyxtbBQSy4tLsnPjS8uKcrMS7dVsgZcMMpbEbo%2C]phallosan[/words] is a better product but for 25 bucks this is worth it

From what I've read it's the nature of the narrow seats on some bikes pressing into the perineal area which leads to problems.

Cock mangles ... Well, one of the terms used. I was cycling almost daily for few months and I didn't have issues. Then again the seat on my bike was wide. So truly the seat matters a lot and of course there are those with split etc., to reduce the pressure on your perineum and balls.
And the mentioned cycling pants surely help.
seeking8.5x6's said it well; Anything in excess is bad!

Why not just set up a LazyAss Stretch and take advantage of the ride?

Or maybe wear your [words=http://www.phallosan.com/shop/catalog/default.php?z=eNortjIxtVKyL0pNszWxMFcrSSxKTy2JL0hMT7U1UisoykyxtbBQSy4tLsnPjS8uKcrMS7dVsgZcMMpbEbo%2C]Phallosan[/words] or [words=https://shop.mattersofsize.com/products/sizegenetics-penis-extender]SizeGenetics[/words] in an upward position.

I wanted to add that there are tons of other modalities for doing cardio that are even more beneficial than cycling that don't cause ed, and are more fun in my opinion. Things like:

Swimming- possibly the best all-around form of exercise one can do. It's aerobic and anaerobic at the same time, extremely forgiving on the joints, and it's just really fun.

Rowing- either for real or on a concept 2 rower. Rowing works the legs, core, and pulling muscles and is a really great way to do anaerobic cardio.

Skiing- either for real or on a concept 2 ski erg. The ski erg and rower are huge in crossfit for good reason- because they work the shit out of you but they're also really fun to use and light on the joints.

Jumping rope, especially double unders. Also a staple of crossfit for good reason.

Boxing or martial arts can be taxing and fun as well.

And then of course you can always lift weights but shorten your rest times to make them more cardio intensive. Hope this helps.

I might forget about the PenilMasterpro and buy a [words=http://www.phallosan.com/shop/catalog/default.php?z=eNortjIxtVKyL0pNszWxMFcrSSxKTy2JL0hMT7U1UisoykyxtbBQSy4tLsnPjS8uKcrMS7dVsgZcMMpbEbo%2C]Phallosan[/words] from the way things are going.

This sounds like good advice for me too JP. I have gained a lot of the weight I lost and I really need to get off my ass and start doing something. I put on the weight being sick all winter and now, that I am better, the weight is going down but so slowly. What can I do when I get cravings? Is there a supplement that will make me feel full? I binge eat sometimes and I know that is not good. Thanks for your help JP!

I'm not sure about a supplement making you feel full but I would say caffeine is something that could help you have less cravings. I like green and black tea sweetened with stevia, and I also take green tea liquid extract from herb pharm.

But as far as munchies, I get them too, and the way I deal with it is I try to at least eat something that is satisfying but not full-on junk food. Like for salty snacky cravings I eat organic falafel chips or tortilla chips with guacamole, salsa, or hummus. Or low sodium organic popcorn. For sweets I like organic granola type cereal with oats, almonds, dried cranberries and stuff like that. Also skyr yogurt with stevia and organic cocoa, an apple with peanut or almond butter, or celery with peanut butter and raisins. My mom used to call them "ants on a log." Lol.

Basically try to limit sugar and saturated fat, as well as sodium. Almost any prepackaged food has tons of sodium and sugar so unless you find a special brand that has low or no sugar and sodium you may have to prepare some meals yourself from scratch.

Last thing- you could always just ramp up your exercise to justify the extra calories you've eaten but that isn't exactly the best strategy. There's an old adage that says "you can't outtrain a bad diet" and I think that's good advice. The only people who can get away with eating bad and still stay in shape are Olympic or Crossfit Games athletes and maybe bodybuilders. And teenagers.

Thank you so much! The snacks make perfect sense, I eat junk in those times. I will start to stock up on the snacks you suggested. I love yogurt and have been eating it for breakfast. Ramping up exercise is what I really need to do, just my energy levels are so drained, most likely from my shit diet. I truly appreciate all the great advice and I will start to document my weight loss again :) Hoping I can get back to where I was a year ago.

No problem. Forgot to mention protein shakes too. Protein powder mixed with whatever you like- peanut butter, frozen fruit, cocoa, vanilla extract, cinnamon, stevia, yogurt, maybe some veggies at some point... whatever you can think of that isn't junk.

Anyway, good luck. It's tough but doable. The trick is to not go on a "diet" but to start eating healthier.

This is an excellent option! There's fiber powders which can be added to the mix as well. This becomes especially important as one gets older.

Go you! I will have my Son get me some protein shakes, is there a brand that is better than the next?

I use Raw Grass Fed Whey unflavored but it's kind of expensive. My runner up would be BioChem Grass Fed Whey chocolate flavor.

Thanks, I will go with the less expensive. I will have my Son bring me to GNC.

Cool. If they don't have Biochem then NOW is another good brand.

Whatever you choose just make sure there aren't any added sugars and weird preservatives and artificial sweeteners like most of the big mainstream brands have. Stevia is a natural sweetener so that's what I would look for. Or unflavored and add your own stuff to it.

Thanks for that, it was a reminder :-)

Longest time brother. I remember you used to pump and hang regularly and your girth is very close to 6.5 inches mid shaft. I hope you are still consistently doing your routine or maybe, you might have gotten to your goal by now.
