I am really humming along now! Literally. :) NO increased 15-fold during humming according to studies.

I am not an expert in this area but just Google "Nitric Oxide" & "Humming" and you'll be impressed at what you find.

Example: http://ajrccm.atsjournals.org/cgi/content/full/166/2/144

Of course, the benefits of Nitric Oxide particularly when produced naturally by the body are quite impressive. Check it out!

Why would I want to do that?

Like I said, I am no expert in this specific area, but from my understanding (and what I have been told from the friend of mine who's been teaching natural health for about 25 years) this is one of the bodies modes of NO production that carries with it all the benefits you've heard of resulting from increased NO levels.

So, why would you want to do that? I don't know maybe you wouldn't. I'm just passing on what I thought some may find as helpful information. If it works, it is alot better than popping pills, which I refuse to do particularly when they are synthetically derived and of pharmaceutical style.

Side note: According to the JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) properly prescribed, properly taken Pharmaceutical drugs are the 4th largest killer in the US. When combined with Medical mistakes the "system" overtakes diabetes and claims the 3rd position of largest killers. This leaves only Cancer and Cardiovascular disease to be more prominent in fatality than the allopathic medical system itself.

My attitude is... Humming is easy and virtually therapeutic in it's own right, why not? If this information merely causes me to "verbalize" the song in my heart with greater consistency that by itself is a health benefit. Of course, as stated above it may carry with it benefits that go beyond the historically acknowledged.

Who cares? Perhaps not you. I do. Someone else may. Perhaps no one will. Who knows? I don't. I personally do hum considerably more now.

If anyone does desire additional information on this subject, I am not the appropriate source. I regret to inform you that you will have to do your own research. This was intended to be an "info bulletin" style post, not one I intend on nursing along.

How long should you do this each day, what is recommended?

"Should" is a bit loose. I would do it perhaps as much as you can, your body will regulate itself. I doubt you can overdo it since your not forcing or manipulating your system.

Like I have stated before, this is not my area of expertise. But below are a few links... (Some find to an audible exhale (humming) also increases the oxygen effeciency of breathing.)

The scripture below would seem to also encourage you to do it as much as possible. The key word that stands out to me is "always".

Eph 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Eph 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Eph 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Good job, keep it up. I would stay away from "Om" though, it is calling upon a deity you may not desire affiliation with.

scabbott, do you know much about eastern philosophy, tantra stuff like that??

Some, not an area of true expertise. Unless of course, one defines an expert as knowing more than most. While in the army 15 years or so ago, I lived 16 months in Korea. Since I have traveled a fair bit...Japan, Taiwan, Australia, Thailand. About a year and ahalf ago, I was in Northern India for about 45 days stayed entirely among the nationals from backwoods Orissa to the lower crests of the Himilayas, from to the heart of Delhi, to the banks of the Ganges in Varanasi. I spent a morning being questioned by police in the Kalahandi district of Orissa because I was the only "white man" for over 200 miles. Back to your question... I have studied the subjects. The spiritual realm has been an area of interest for me since my youth. "Know much?" you ask, probably not, considering the vastness of the subject.

I like info like this, thanks for the info scabbot, much appreciated. :)

I just re-read your post. The first time I missed the whole quote above and saw nothing but your signature. I am glad you appreciate it. I appreciate you saying so, thanks.

I learned of Penis Enlargement almost 15 years ago, grew some after that, then quit for years. Started back for about 90 days, grew some more, quit for years. Take that pattern and duplicate it for 15 years and that pretty much makes up my experience. I hope to stay consistent enough this time to finish off my goal. I am about 2/3rds there in terms of inches grown, of course even closer by percentage.

So, I can relate to your renewed intention.

very cool dude, I like to hum, just don't let it become an OCD habit that you can't control. There are times to hum and then there aren't lol

So true. So true. Important point. No humming while sleeping, we call that snoring. No humming while listening to others in close conversation, we call that Attention Deficit Disorder (and just plain rude, wives really hate this unless put in the form of "Uh huh, Uh, huh"). No humming while talking, it's just too hard to understand (not to mention quite difficult). Yet, there remain many great opportunities considering that humming (particularly when humming a tune) is quite socially acceptable within reasonable parameters and it is even easier to conceal than MonkeyBars newest Auto-Extender ADS.

Here is another related idea that can improve the results of stretching and perhaps alleviate how mundane manual stretching can be while counting.

Try this...Time how long it takes for you to take one full deep breath cycle. For me it is about 20-25 seconds. Now while manual stretching instead of counting to 60 or 100 (I count faster than seconds go by) rather take 3-4 complete cycle deep breaths. Here is where the humming comes in... on the exhale make it a slow audible exhale and hum while consciously relaxing and visualizing the stretch going to the max. I am confident that doing this with that level of integrated focus will improve results over time. Not to mention be a health contribution to the body generally through oxygenation of the cells, Nitric Oxide elevation throughout naturally, and the resulting stress reducing effects of deep breathing.
