This is just a general PE mindset for newbies to understand and even myself after coming out of decon another example of discipline and effort to keep me going.
Being consistent with the discipline of a routine will win over pushing hard and doing PE with fewer days.
I think of M Phelps training for GOAT status. He trained every day for 5 years "went five straight years without missing a single day of workout" and said that in swimming missing a day of training sets you back 2 days to get back into it. Do you honestly think he would be a GOAT if he said, "That training every day is such an inconvenience in my life and I don't have privacy, I think I will train 2 days a week and push harder and go overboard on fewer days, and that will be fine!" As crazy as you hear that, think of your own PE journey and how many of us had this incorrect mindset when we started.
Now that is just an example, I am not saying to train every day or that occasionally you can't go HAM and push a bit once you are experienced. All I am saying is that PE needs a different mindset than trying to fit it into our lives.
A couple of takeaways, when training for a marathon or Olympics this is a 4-5 year mindset and not an "I hope to win this in a few months or a year mindset." We all want gains now, just like athletics want that gold medal tomorrow, but guess what? They know this takes time and discipline, why are so many newbies blind to this in PE? I don't know but I will tell you that the ones here with the best gains are the ones not blind to this.
