this might be true in our country (US), but my experience has been very different with our neighbors to The North. The stigma of working in the sex trade here runs very deep and being illegal, further drives the participants underground.

I struggled with adding my experiences for fear of being judged or vilified, but figured dispelling stereotypes more important...so here you go:

Firstly, I have a beautiful/sexy/successful SO that I see 2-3 weekends each month (we live over an hour from each other) and I'd describe our relationship as loving and normal. She has no idea about my PE endeavors, but I'm sure she has an idea something might be going on (I've gained about 1/2" in both length and girth since we started seeing each-other, but the increase has been so incremental). I would agree with this in my time working in casinos alot of the working girls are alot cleaner then some of these party girls around now of course you have your dirty ones but that's the case with any profession

In the mid 90s I was lucky enough to get to know a few Dutch women. They all told me that at home when you'd meet someone new and they said they worked as a prostitute it was as normal as any other "blue collar" job. From a government standpoint it's taxable income and immediately reduces crime because there's no one to arrest for prostitution. It isn't called "the oldest profession in the world" for no reason.

America would go apeshit if we made it legal and allowed for licensed "red light districts" but the reduction of STDs through regular required testing would improve health for many. The husband who feels the need to step out from time to time would severely lessen the chance of his pool boy without health insurance getting the STD he unknowingly passed to his wife, who was also cheating behind his back, and then passing it through the neighborhood to all the other cheating wives and then on to their husbands, secretaries, etc.
 
We're so sexually repressed here that any suggestion to legalize would mobilize all the religious heretics and hypocritical politicians into a frenzy, and over what? It's just adults figuring-out a solution in the most efficient way. Our good friends to the north (hopefully they remain our friends) have a pretty solid system and don't interfere unless someone poses a threat or creates a problem.

Our sexuality is deeply-rooted and very personal, so there will never be a perfect system, but if we can at least act like grown-ups about it...

I live in Vegas and it is not LEGAL . So don't come out here and get arrested . You can drive about an hour out of the city and get to places were it is .

It is legal anywhere in Nevada besides the Reno/Carson and Las Vegas Metro areas where the population exceeds 700,000 in the county. There is a large red light district east of Carson City in Moundhouse. It is near a few wrecking yards. One of them was called Red light auto at one time. Most of the other ones are scattered across the state out in the middle of nowhere.
 
It is definitely illegal here. Hell, we can't get a lottery, I could only imagine the mass panic if someone put forward a bill to legalize prostitution. There would be politicians falling out on the floor of the State House and churches around the state would go into meltdown

Thanks to the puritans and Mr Kellog and his damn corn flakes we're still really repressed. My ex and I had a huge fight over getting our son circumsized. I did NOT want him cut but somehow she won. The 5 pounds is just a starting weight. I actually started with 2.5# and realized pretty quickly that I could use more weight. My plan is to move up after I can do 2 20 minute sets. Legal prostitution would solve so many of society's problems, not least of which would be human trafficking.

Same goes for drugs. If drugs were legal the cartels would have nothing to sell (besides avocados or whatever) and if more resources were put into treatment centers and mental health clinics then addicts would have a much greater chance of staying clean and a greater quality of life overall. It would affect everything in our society on a macro level, and all of it would be positive.

This is how they've done it in several other countries and their crime and disease statistics all reflect that it works.

One more big issue we seem to never have the balls to solve is fucking guns. Once again, many other countries have adopted common sense gun laws or banned them outright and they don't have mass shootings like we do here on an almost daily basis.

All three of these big issues could be solved by changing the laws but the right-wing religious nut jobs will forever drag their feet to make sure that never happens, regardless of how much sense it makes.
 
Sure.

New Zealand for example see gun ownership as a privilege, unlike the States, who see it as a right.

No expert on the US, but maybe the crime rate is so high, they [public] feel safer having guns? versus NZ which has low crime anyway.
