NFL Championship Sunday

Actually, you know what though Texan about that Vick thing you said. I agree it is a little bit hard to like a QB who has scramble that high on the list, but if the Falcons has a damn receiver lol. Those guys are not very formidable. Price is an absolute joke at the price they got him for. But I'd take Vick on Dallas, however whoever it is under center for Dallas has got one hell of a Running Back in Julius Jones. He just impressed me to death. Every game I got to see him play (I think maybe all but two of the 8 he played in I saw...the new orleans and second philly game I couldn't see) he just moves those legs of his and he's quick...gooo is he elusive and durable as was questioned early in the season. With all their defensive problems and other injuries if he was healthy all year he might have carried them to the playoffs what with the competition in the NFC this year. I'm excited to see his play next season.

millionman, I totally agree with you about the Pats. The year they won their first SB, I was the only one in work picking these guys from about the middle of that year. I kept telling people to watch out for the Pats. They're just one, solid football team. They're downright scary. All they do is win football games.

I, too, am not impressed with the mighty Michael Vick. I didn't really want to go into it in my last post. He's pretty much a one-dimensional player at this time in his career. Don't know if he'll ever become a complete QB or not. It's all well and good that he can run like a deer; unfortunately, you need to do a whole lot more to be a QB in this league.

It just amazes how all the 'experts' on ESPN, FOX, etc., pretty much blow Vick constantly when talking about him. His PASSING stats are near the bottom of the league among QB's. I remember one week where he had 110 yards passing and 100 yards rushing, and everybody was talking about what a GREAT day he had. Pretty much, if you stop him from rushing, you shut down the Falcons. Mora needs to fix that. He's got two good RB's. He needs to concentrate on getting Vick to be a passing threat.

Anyway, I know it's wishful thinking, but I'm still going with the Birds in the SB.

Man I totally feel you....got to be loyal to your team...I'm a BUCS fan myself...and we all know how bad they were...Not to mention I'm a HUGE Ray Lewis fan...and we all know how good Kyle Boller is...anyway, Vick is easily marketable...to majority of the fans in the NFL who know as close to nothing about talent and what it means to actuially play the game it's an easy sale.... he does all these amazing things, and that's what people pay to see... it's a lot like Lebron James in a way... he hasn't done anything yet, but he's going to....and he's crazy talented, but again because of the things he does on the court makes him easily marketable... all started with MJ and it's been down hill from there... I always wondered why Charles Barkley shoes weren't more popular???

Well you guys remember all the hype about Kordell "Slash" Stewart a few years back don't you? I don't know what it is about these do-it-all-pretty-well-but-nothing-great QBs. They're media darlings, but they can't get it done on the field consistently. When I posted that I wasn't a fan of the mobile QB, I say that because they don't win the big games. This ROUGH analogy will probably get a few responses saying it's dumb, but I see it like this:

A QB has skills. Let's say his total skills = 100%

OK, you have your traditional QB: Montana, Aikman, Favre. They have their skills... let's say 45% mental/decision making prowess under pressure, 45% physical passing, 10% athletic ability/agility/speed. You can't offset the mental aspect, generally a QB has it or he doesn't; well maybe with blitz packages or innovative schemes say 5%... - 40%. Physical pasing ability you can limit through pass rush and defensive back pass coverage, so let's say you negate 15% of that- 30%. Athletic ability is harder to negate because you have to focus on the passing game, and it's not a serious threat- 10%.

So you have a QB functioning during game time at appx. 80% of what he would be under ideal practice conditions.

Now you take Vick, who I will break down roughly as 33% mental/decision making prowess, 33% physical passing ability, and 33% athletic ability/agility/speed. Well, you take away the 5% mental ability with blitzes, etc = 28%. You negate, say half his athletic ability with designed defenses = 17%, and then you offset his passing abilities by, say 10% (not as much as Farve and company 1. because it's not as big of a threat, and 2. more resources are put on limiting his rushing) = 23%.

So you get Vick operating during gametime at 68% of what he would be under ideal practice conditions.

The thing is, if Vick would re-prioritize he has the ability to be a very physically talented passer. I think his gametime mental prowess would be boosted if he focused more on reading coverage schemes and his receivers and their cover men as opposed to seeing if his #1 receiver is open and if not then looking for a running lane.

Anyway, that's my theory on it.

And I'm sure you all have heard the reports that the team doctor won't clear Terrell Owens to play in the SB, but he says he is going to anyway... all about TO aint it? I am SO glad, though. This means his risk of getting his ankle seriously fucked up is SO much higher. The only thing I want to hear coming out of that loud mouth sack of shit is sobs of pain.

lol, I don't like seeing players seriously hurt, but I hear ya Texan. All year since the time T.O. was bitching and moaning about Garcia and then wanting to go somewhere else and his idiot agent being bailed out...once he went to the with the Eagles I was telling my boys that it's over...his career will be over cause Roy Williams is gonna take him out...lol It didn't go down exactly the way I wanted, but hey who hurt him? lol

But about Vick...I don't care what kind of passing stats he has up to now...get him a damn number one reciever or at least someone who will catch the ball...then we'll see...he's no Kordell Stewart though...one, Kordell isn't anywhere near Vick's size...two, nowhere near Vick's speed...or athleticsm...but seriously Aikman was the most accurate guy I've ever seen throw the ball, but it sure helped having Michael Irvin know what he was doing on every play.

I never was a big Aikman fan. He had a great team around him... great line, RB, FB, and Novacek as TE. Talk about a security blanket, Novacek was awesome. But yeah, he was accurate, and he din't make dumb mistakes.

Yeah I'd say Aikman and Emmitt benefited plenty from that O-line also. Novacek was to Aikman what the Moose was to Emmitt that much is certain at least in my opinion. In other words they helped those two out quite a bit.

Go Pats...CRUSH the fuckin' Eagles!! No offense to the Philly fans, but I can't stand the Eagles. Terrell Owens is such a ball-hog show-off he will play unless his leg is amputated- you can count on it. You really think he's gonna pass on the opportunity to show his ass on the world's biggest stage? No way. We can only hope he further aggrivates his gimpy ankle that ROY WILLIAMS of the DALLAS COWBOYS fucked up for him. Again, sorry guys, I know that sounds unsportsmanlike, but 1) he spiked the ball on the Dallas star at midfield after a touchdown a few years back w/ San Fran, 2) he now plays for the Eagles... the resident babies of the NFC, and 3) he's the biggest loud-mouth ball-hog in the game. I think he and Randy Moss compete to see who get the most press by being a total jackass. I hope his legs get broken... completely off. And his jaw gets broke so he can't talk shit. Honestly I hope he does play, so when the Pats win, he can't talk shit. Cause if the Pats win and he doesn't play, TO will be saying he could have made the difference. And that's a slap in the face to McNabb and Westbrook, and co. Considering that, he may not play, because he probably knows that the Pats are gonna pack their shit, and he doesn't want to be on the field when it happens.

I just talking smack... If you find any of this remotely offensive, sorry. Just be like my wife and ignore me :)

I didn't think Philly fans and Pitt fans swapped over... I thought that was kind of like the Yankees/Mets thing... either one or the other.
George Teague teaching TO that you can can win the game, but you don't spike the ball on the Star in Dallas...
