I too was hesitant of incorporating regular decon breaks into my routine and even more hesitant about incorporating prolonged decon breaks. However when look back over my long PE career my best gains, including recently, have came after decon breaks. I don't mean taking a week or two off, especially if having been stalled for months, much less years!
I took others lead on taking decon breaks. And they were making consistent gains. In fact I took one before I ventured into vacuum hanging after being stalled for 2 years despite religious PE. Take 3 months off, allow your tissues to decon and come back with slightly less newbie gains, we do have diminishing returns with breaks or not.
Even DLD took 2 months off and wore tight underwear before developing SRT. I don't recommend wearing tight underwear at any time but still he took a decon.
Think about it. You can keep upping time and intensity and further toughening tissues. Making little to no progress, making future gains harder and any decon break needed longer. Or you can rest, come back and make cheap and easy gains and keep repeating till you get to your goals.
I'd recommend against DLD's advice of doing a step down routine. That would be beneficial if trying to cement, but let's face it you've been stalled for a while. There is no need to cement, all this time you've been cementing but not gaining. 3 months is the conservative estimate, longer if necessary. Use the decon to learn your next plan if attack. I think I've developed a very good routine. Read through my log starting on page 50 or whenever it was I came back in June.
