genetically unsuited for lifting?

i dont know if anyone can relate to this but ive been training for years now and the more i train the more depressing it gets. it seems that anyone i train with quickly advances in strength and size and im left in the dirt (all the time!!!) i change my routine all the time, change the exercises, reps no of sets etc. i try to eat correctly, but unless im cramming in 4000 calories/day my weight doesnt shift, and even when i do eat that much its mostly carbs so i put on fat instead of muscle.
me and my mate (who i always train with) just started a course of aas, my strength has picked up slightly. was benching 90kg x 5. now benching 100kg for 5 and ive put on about 4 kg. whereas he has put on like 8 kg and was benching 100kg for 5 now benching 120 kg for 6. i know i shouldnt be comparing myself to others but i cant help thinking that maybe my body just isnt cut out for lifting. i forgotto mention that if i have any time off, my strength rapidly falls and takes me AGES to get back. sometimes i just feel like quiting cos its so depressing, but i dont wanna be one of these fat fuckers that sits there wanting to get thin.
anyone have any advice? i was thinking of toning up and then just staying small and cut up, but if im honest with myself i dont wanna be skinny and cut. if you go to the gym then it should show, not for someone to confuse you with someone else that doesnt eat enough, just really pisses me off!!!
anyway thanks for reading my little rant >:(

I feel for you mate, but I dont agree for a second that anyone isnt cut out for lifting unless they have something very wrong genetically which I dont think you have as you have made gains in the past so it cant be that.

This program http://www.musclenow.com/#more is supposed to be SHIT HOT, aint used it myself but will be doing in a few months to try something new .. goldmember has tried it and said its good ... the seller offers 24/7 support for life and read the testimonials [all them cant be fake] guys gain and gain.

To me your dwelling too much on your mate gaining more than you, please dont as it will make you feel like shit or more so. Change your mindset to one where you WILL GAIN ... it takes allot of time.

Currently I'm in a plataeu and cant seem to get out but I know with time it will happen.

Good luck

Dude, you have to be kidding! You can lift about twice what I can lift!
I know it's unavoidable comparing yourself to others and that some people are natural easy gainers, but still all you can do is focus on yourself. When you're down the gym and surrounded by big toned guys it can be quite daunting but looking outside this sphere and comparing yourself to a non-gym-goer, you should notice the difference.

I no were your coming from mate,it really comes down to genetics but we can all make progress.

Don't be scared to get fat, very few can gain a significant amount of size while staying lean.Eat everything in sight including junk to get the cals up,i recently followed that advice and hit my heaviest ever,16s 2lb @ 5'8,doesn't look pretty but you have to think long term, strength went through the roof and lifts went up,which means growth, started a slow cut now and will be nice and lean by summer.

Have a read of this thread, this is the advice ive been following. The first few replys may not make sense, the thread starter editted the origional post.

What does your current routine look like.

Evo, one of my mates who has been at a plateau recently and tried most things to get over it decided to have a venture with German Volume Training.

In depth info on that here http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/luis13.htm
Broken down into steps here http://www.trulyhuge.com/germanvolumetrainingL01.html

He told me that this got him past the plateau and he gained 12lbs of muscle in 11 weeks while onthe routine and he didnt use Pro-hormones or anything else that could jack it up like that.

I will be trying it, something new I guess in the summer ... if you need some pointers than ask me and I will ask the guy at work .... give it a shot mate.

ciao

try weighted pushups/dips on the rings. Find out how much you press with your bodyweight by getting in the pushup position on a bathroom scale. Go all the way down, and look at how much you press. There is a slight change in poundage due to the leverage as you go up to the top position, but not by much, maybe 10 lbs.

So take that, and add how ever much weight you need, and do that on rings. you can make them yourself. just go to home depot or wherever, buy 2 1 1/4" pvc elbows. Look like big macaroni noodles. Get 50 feet of strong rope, loop it through those things, tie a knot at a triangle about a foot or so above the elbow, and then leave a good amount of length. Just tie them anywhere, at the park, on a tree....

cost me about 8 dollars

Trust me, those and dips/weighted dips will skyrocket your strength. Sometimes you need a new exercise, not just reps/sets modification. The stabilizer strength will strengthen your elbows, tendons, ligaments and increase your strength on stable exercises.

Also, take your military press max, and add 25 lbs, power clean it and hold it there for 10 seconds. Do like 3 of those, and that will help too.

For weighted pushups, I recommend getting a backpack, getting a 50 lb bag of sand, and then wrapping that bag up with a good amount of duct tape until it is like a rock. Use that as your backpack weight, and then with the extra pockets, add plates in there. I have gotten my backpack up to 105 lbs. When I need more, I will have some one put a large, flexible duffel bag on top of that.

Weighted pushups will nail the abs, as well. Good transfer to other strength movements.

Remember to hit your posterior chain and posterior deltoids as well with deadlifts and rows. Gotta keep the muscles balanced. That will stall your strength as well.

Just read and read and find different ways to work the muscles you are trying to strengthen.
